Focus on Reading

In this text teaching reading to students of English as a second language is expounded, with an emphasis on the readers interpretation of the text, reliance on context, skimming, scanning and prediction as the major learning strategies. Chapters cover reading theories, the reading needs of language students, planning programs and selecting texts and activities. Common questions that are discussed include methods of assessment and their difficulties.
