1. I love to look on the dark blue sea, and hear the dash of the waves upon the shore. When the sun shines on them they look like gold. Boating on a fine day is very pleasant. The roll of the waves rocks the boat with a gentle motion.

2. But the sea is not calm and bright at all times. When the wind blows the waves rise high, so high as to hide the boats from you as you stand on the land. Far off from the shore the great ships go up and down, and roll from side to side, as if they were going to sink.
