OF MATERIALS RELATING TO THE HISTORY OF ΤΟ THE END OF THE REIGN OF HENRY VII. BY THOMAS DUFFUS HARDY, DEPUTY KEEPER OF THE PUBLIC RECORDS. PUBLISHED BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE LORDS COMMISSIONERS OF HER MAJESTY'S DESCRIPTIVE CATALOGUE OF MANUSCRIPTS RELATING TO THE EARLY HISTORY OF GREAT BRITAIN. ncip.-"Post Sanctæ Mildredæ consummationem Virgo "nobilis Edburga." Expl.-"gratia litteris mandare decrevi." Printed in Capgrave's "Nova Legenda Angliæ," f. 101. For a description of these MSS. see Nos. 35 and 38. According to this version, Eadburga, daughter of Ethelbert, King of Kent, succeeded Mildritha as Abbess of Minster or Thanet. Her exemplary conduct and death are described. The author is uncertain whether her relics were removed to St. Augustine's or to St. Gregory's. Great uncertainty prevails relative to the Anglo-Saxon Saints bearing the name of Eadburga. One is said by John of Tinmouth, but most erroneously, to have been daughter of Ethelbert, the first Christian King of Kent, by his Queen Bertha, and to have succeeded her niece VOL. I.
