6 For God approves the just man's ways, To happiness they tend;

But sinners, and the paths they tread,
Shall both in ruin end.

C. M.

Morning.

HE morning bright with rosy light
Has waked me from my sleep:
Father, I own thy love alone
Thy little one doth keep.

2 All through the day I humbly pray,
Be thou my guard and guide;
My sins forgive, and let me live,
Blest Jesus, near thy side.

3 O, make thy rest within my breast,
Great Spirit of all grace;
Make me like thee, then I shall be
Prepared to see thy face.

GOD of Israel, deign to smile
With pitying love on me;
And bless my hours of lonely toil,
And raise my heart to thee.

2 Then, happy in my lowly state,
I never can repine;

I envy not the rich or great,
If thou confess me thine.

3 Let others mourn their humble lot,
But I will work and sing;

For, though the world regard me not,

My Father is a King.

4 From his bright palace in the skies,
He sees me where I roam;

And soon he'll call me to arise,

And bid me welcome home.

THOU dear Redeemer, dying Lamb!

We love to hear of thee;

No music like thy charming name,

Nor half so sweet can be.
2 O, may we ever hear thy voice
To us in mercy speak!

And in our Priest we will rejoice,
Thou great Melchizedek !

3 Our Jesus shall be still our theme,
While in this world we stay;
We'll sing our Jesus' lovely name,
When all things else decay.

4 When we appear in yonder cloud,
With all that favour'd throng,

Then will we sing more sweet, more loud,
And Christ shall be our song.

Morning.

AWAKE, my soul, and with the sun

Thy daily stage of duty run;

Shake off dull sloth, and joyful rise
To pay thy morning sacrifice.

2 Wake, and lift up thyself, my heart,
And with the angels bear thy part,
Who all night long unwearied sing
High praise to the eternal King.
3 All praise to thee, who safe hast kept,
And hast refresh'd me while I slept :
Grant, Lord, when I from death shall wake,
1 may of endless life partake.

4 Lord, I my vows to thee renew:
Disperse my sins as morning dew;
Guard my first springs of thought and will,
And with thyself my spirit fill.

5 Direct, control, suggest this day,
All I design, or do, or say;

That all my powers, with all their might,
In thy sole glory may unite.

Evening.

GLORY to thee, my God, this night,

For all the blessings of the light: Keep me, O keep me, King of kings, Beneath thine own almighty wings. 2 Forgive me, Lord, for thy dear Son, The ill that I this day have done; That, with the world, myself, and thee, I, ere I sleep, at peace may be.

3 Teach me to live, that I may dread
The grave as little as my bed;
Teach me to die, that so I may
Rise glorious at the judgment-day.
4 0, let my soul on thee repose,

And may sweet sleep mine eye-lids close;
Sleep, that may me more vigorous make,
To serve my God when I awake.

5 If in the night I sleepless lie,

My soul with heavenly thoughts supply;
Let no ill dreams disturb my rest,
No powers of darkness me molest.

INTERCESSION.

P. M.

GOD save our gracious Queen,

Long live our noble Queen,
God save the Queen!
Send her victorious,
Happy and glorious,
Long to reign over us,
God save the Queen!

2 Crown'd by a nation's love,
Guarded by Heaven above,
Long live the Queen!
Loud may each voice exclaim,
Wide as Britannia's fame,
Long live Victoria's name,
God bless the Queen!

PEACE be to this habitation!

Peace to all who dwell therein;

Peace, the earnest of salvation;
Peace, the fruit of pardon'd sin;
Peace, that speaks the heavenly Giver;
Peace to worldly minds unknown;
Peace Divine, that lasts for ever;

Peace that comes from God alone.
2 Prince of Peace! be present near us;
Fix in all our hearts thy home:
With thy gracious presence cheer us;
Let thy sacred kingdom come.
Raise to heaven our expectation;
Give our favour'd souls to prove
Glorious and complete salvation,
In the realms of bliss above.

GIVE praises to the Lord,

Exalt the King of kings,

And be his name adored

By all created things:

Enthroned on high in dazzling light,
No crown so bright below the sky.
2 Almighty Lord of all,

By whom alone kings reign,
Before thy throne we fall;

O, save our gracious Queen!
With length of days, with goodness bless,
Let righteousness her throne maintain.
3 A crown of purest gold

Thou hast set on her head;
Honour and majesty

Upon her thou hast laid:

Lord, make her glad with thy bright face;

And with thy grace anoint her head.

4 Lord, hear our fervent prayer,
Our praise shall never cease;
Our Sovereign make thy care,
And crown her days with peace:
Long may she reign; her servants bless;
Send her success: God save the Queen!

THOU, the Father and the Friend
Of those that seek thy truth!

Look down in mercy from above,

And bless our British youth.

2 Grant they may learn thy name to fear,
And seek thy face by prayer;

And let their youthful minds be kept
From every sinful snare.
