It was thought, that the substance of the Roman History, thrown into easy Narrative, might excite the Curiosity of Youth more agreeably than (as it has commonly been given) in the dry mode of Question and Answer: a mode calculated, one might suppose, to interrupt the Reader, and turn into Task a species of Instruction meant surely for Entertainment. |
