West Virginia-Attorney general of West Virginia, June 5, 1916, asked the United States supreme court to issue a writ of execution directing its officers to levy upon the property of Virginia in order to satisfy the $13,000,000 judgment of the court. West Virginia-Legislature has refused to take action on the order of the United States supreme court directing the payment of $12,393,929.50 to the commonwealth of Virginia as this state's portion of the civil war debt. A motion was filed in the supreme court, Mar. 5, 1917, by the attorney general of West Virginia asking for the discharge of an application for a writ of mandamus sought by the state of Virginia to compel West Virginia to pay the judgment of the court. Case has not been decided.

Chicago, Ill.-Dental week was observed Dec. 4-11, 1916, in order to arouse public attention to matters pertaining to dental hygiene. School lectures, moving pictures of tooth brush drills, newspaper editorials by leading dentists were used to give the teeth publicity. The dental school and city dental clinics gave over the week to examination of children's teeth. Tooth brushes and paste were distributed as far as the supply permitted to children who could not afford to buy them.
