New York (city)-Zoning committee has been formed to protect the new zoning law. It will assist the corporation counsel in upholding the constitutionality of the law if tested in the courts, and will aid the city in administering the law and perfecting the zoning maps. It has accumulated a vast amount of material on police powers and legal decisions from all the states, and will maintain a repository of books, maps and general data. New Jersey-Law has been passed which empowers cities of the first class to regulate and limit the height and bulk of buildings and to determine the area of yards, courts and other open spaces, dividing such cities into zones or districts, designating these as residential, business or manufacturing.
