Incorporation. March 20, 1863, General Railroad Law of 1850; corporate life 99 years, capital stock $1,000,000, with the privilege of increasing to $2,000,000; route as follows:

Commencing in Chambers street at West; thence along Chambers street, James slip and South street to Catharine street ferry; thence returning through and along South street, James slip, and Chambers street to the junction of Chambers and Duane streets near Chatham street, thence along Duane to West street, and through West street to the place of beginning, with necessary sidings, etc. All with a single or double track.

Construction. No record of any construction. In the state engineer's report for 1878, this Company was marked extinct.

Commencing at the Rapid Transit station at the intersection of West 181st street with Broadway (formerly Boulevard), in the borough of Manhattan; thence on and along said West 181st street in an easterly direction to Washington bridge; thence along and over Washington bridge easterly to Aqueduct avenue, borough of The Bronx; thence northeasterly on and along Aqueduct avenue to Tremont avenue; thence easterly on and along Tremont avenue as it winds and turns to the Transverse road under the Grand boulevard and Concourse, connecting said Tremont avenue; thence southerly on and along the Transverse road under the Grand boulevard and Concourse again to Tremont avenue; thence easterly on and along Tremont avenue to Ryer avenue; thence northerly on and along Ryer avenue to East 180th street; thence southeasterly on and along East 180th street to Webster avenue; thence northerly on and along Webster avenue again to East 180th street; thence easterly on and along said East 180th street to Southern boulevard; thence northerly on Southern boulevard to East 182d street.

Third. Commencing at the Rapid Transit station, at the intersection of Bailey avenue and East 230th street, in the borough of The Bronx, running thence easterly on and along said 230th street to its intersection with Heath avenue; thence southerly on and along Heath avenue to its intersection with Kingsbridge road; thence southeasterly on and along Kingsbridge road as the same winds and turns to its intersection with the Transverse road under the Grand boulevard and Concourse connecting said Kingsbridge road; thence easterly on and along said Transverse road again to Kingsbridge road; thence southerly and easterly on and along Kingsbridge road to its intersection with Third and Pelham avenues; thence on and along Third avenue southerly to East 189th street; thence southeasterly on and along East 189th street to Beaumont avenue; thence northeasterly on and along Beaumont avenue again to East 189th street; thence easterly on and along East 189th street to Southern boulevard; thence southerly on and along Southern boulevard to East 182d street; thence southeasterly on and along said East 182d street to Vyse avenue; thence southwesterly on and along Vyse avenue to East 178th street; thence southeasterly on and along said East 178th street to Boston road; thence southwesterly on and

along Boston road to East 177th street; thence easterly on and along said East 177th street to and across the Eastern boulevard again to East 177th street; thence easterly on and along East 177th street to and ending at Locust point on Long Island sound, with a branch line commencing at Decatur avenue and Kingsbridge road; thence running northeasterly on and along Decatur avenue to its intersection with Mosholu parkway.

Fourth. Commencing at the intersection of Jerome avenue and East 200th street in the borough of The Bronx, running thence southeasterly along East 200th street to the Transverse road under Grand boulevard and Concourse connecting said East 200th street; thence southeasterly along said Transverse road again to East 200th street; thence southeasterly along said East 200th street to Webster avenue; thence across Webster avenue at said East 200th street to Southern boulevard, in the borough of The Bronx.

Fifth. Commencing at the intersection of East 124th street and First avenue, in the borough of Manhattan, running thence northeasterly along First avenue to, across and over Willis avenue bridge over the Harlem river to its intersection with East 135th street, borough of The Bronx; thence on and along East 135th street in a southeasterly direction to its intersection with Cypress avenue; thence on and along said Cypress avenue in a northerly direction to East 141st street; thence easterly on and along East 141st street to Wales avenue; thence northerly on and along Wales avenue to Kelly street; thence easterly and northeasterly on and along Kelly street to Intervale avenue; thence northerly on and along Intervå. avenue to Jennings street; thence easterly on and along Jennings street to Vyse street or avenue; thence northerly on and along Vyse street or avenue to its junction with the Boston road; thence northeasterly on and along the Boston road again to Vyse street or avenue; thence northerly on and along Vyse street or avenue to its intersection with East 178th street, with a branch line running southwesterly on and along Cypress avenue from its intersection with East 135th street to East 134th street; thence southeasterly on East 134th street to the East river or Long Island sound.

Sixth. Commencing at West 145th street, west of Lenox avenue, borough of Manhattan, running thence easterly on and along said West 145th street to and over the Lenox avenue bridge, now under construction over the Harlem river, to East 149th street, borough of The Bronx; thence in an easterly direction on and along said East 149th street to Courtlandt avenue; thence northerly on and along Courtlandt avenue to East 156th street; thence easterly on and along said East 156th street to its intersection with Leggett avenue or Craven street; thence southerly and easterly on and along Leggett avenue or Craven street to its intersection with Dawson street; thence southeasterly on and along Leggett avenue to its intersection with Randall avenue; thence easterly on and along Randall avenue to the Bronx river.

Seventh. Commencing at Wendover avenue and Crotona park east, borough of The Bronx, running thence southeasterly on and along Wendover avenue to Wilkins place; thence southerly on and along Wilkins place to Intervale avenue; thence southwesterly and southerly on and along Intervale avenue to Dongan street; thence easterly on and along Dongan street to Southern boulevard and Hunt's Point road; thence southeasterly on and along Hunt's Point road to Long Island sound.

Eighth. Commencing at Mott avenue, south of East 138th street, borough of The Bronx, running thence northerly to East 138th street; thence southeasterly along East 138th street to Railroad avenue, east; thence northeasterly along Railroad avenue, east, to Morris avenue; thence northerly along Morris avenue to Railroad avenue, west; thence northeasterly along Railroad avenue, west, to and across Webster, Melrose and Brook avenues again to Railroad avenue or Park avenue, east; thence northerly along Railroad avenue or Park avenue, east, to the junction of Third avenue and East 189th street.

Extensions of route. Certificates of extensions of route were filed in the office of the secretary of state, as follows:

April 25, 1905: Upon Route No. 1. Commencing at the intersection of East 238th street and Albany road, running thence northeasterly on and along Albany road to its intersection with Van Cortlandt avenue and Van Cortlandt park south;

Also, commencing at the intersection of East 188th street and Aqueduct avenue, thence running southwesterly on and along East 188th street to its intersection with Sedgwick avenue; thence southerly on and along Sedgwick avenue to its intersection with Fordham road; running thence westerly on and along Fordham road to its intersection with East 184th street; thence southerly and westerly on and along East 184th street to the easterly approach of the new (or Fordham Heights) bridge to be constructed; thence westerly upon and along the easterly approach to said new (or Fordham Heights) bridge; thence westerly upon, along and across said new (or Fordham Heights) bridge to the westerly approach to said bridge or West 207th street, borough of Manhattan; thence westerly upon and along said westerly approach or West 207th street to the rapid transit station at Amsterdam or 10th avenue;

Also, beginning at a point on the 155th street viaduct between Bradhurst and Eighth avenues and on a line parallel with the westerly line of the Manhattan Elevated Railway Company's station at Eighth avenue and West 155th street; thence westerly upon and along said viaduct to the western extremity thereof; thence westerly upon and along West 155th street to the west line of Broadway; thence northerly along Broadway to the rapid transit station at the intersection of Broadway and West 157th street.

Upon Route No. 6. Commencing with the intersection of East 149th street and Courtlandt avenue, running thence easterly on and along East 149th street to the junction of East 149th street, Prospect avenue and Southern boulevard; thence continuing southerly on and along East 149th street to its intersection with Randall avenue; thence southeasterly on and along Randall avenue to its intersection with Leggett avenue.

Upon Route No. 7. Commencing at the intersection of Wendover avenue and Crotona park east, running thence southwesterly on and along Crotona park east to its intersection with Prospect avenue and Crotona park south; thence westerly on and along Crotona park south to its intersection with Fulton avenue; thence running northerly on and along Fulton avenue to its intersection with Wendover avenue; thence westerly on and along Wendover avenue to the rapid transit station at its intersection with Third avenue.

June 22, 1905: (1) Route No. 1. Beginning at the intersection of Aqueduct avenue and Featherbed lane; running thence in a general northeasterly direction in, through, upon and along Featherbed lane to its intersection with Jerome avenue; thence in a general northeasterly direction upon and across Jerome avenue, and in, through, upon and along East 174th street to its intersection with Clay avenue; thence in a general southeasterly direction in, through, upon and along Clay avenue to its intersection with Webster avenue and Wendover avenue; thence in an easterly direction in, through, upon and along Wendover avenue to the Elevated Railway station at the intersection of Wendover avenue and Third avenue; all in the borough of The Bronx, in the city, county and state of New York.

(2) Beginning on Route No. 1, at the intersection of Lind avenue and West 168th street; running thence in an easterly direction in, through, upon and along West 168th street to its intersection with Shakespeare avenue; thence in a southerly and southeasterly direction in, through, upon and along Shakespeare avenue to its intersection with Jerome avenue; thence in a southerly direction, in, through, upon and along Jerome avenue to its intersection with McClellan street; thence in an easterly direction in, through, upon and along McClellan street to its intersection with River avenue; thence in a northerly direction in, through, upon and along River avenue to its intersection with East 167th street; thence in an easterly, southeasterly, and easterly direction in, through, upon and along East 167th street to its intersection with Clay avenue; thence in a northerly direction in, through, upon and along Clay avenue to its intersection with East 168th street; all in the borough of The Bronx, in the city, county and state of New York.

(3) Beginning on Route No. 3, at the intersection of West Farms road, Boston road and East 177th street; running thence in a general southerly direction in, through, upon and along West Farms road to its intersection with Home street; thence in, through, upon and along Home street to its intersection with the route of said New York City Interborough Railway Company upon Intervale avenue, at its intersection with Home street.

(4) Beginning on Route No. 6, at the intersection of Prospect avenue and East 156th street; running thence in a northwesterly direction in, through, upon and along Prospect avenue to its intersection with Longwood avenue; thence in an easterly direction in, through, upon and along Longwood avenue to its intersection with Dawson street, thence south in, through, along and upon Dawson street to the route of said New York City Interborough Railway Company upon Leggett avenue, at the intersection with Dawson street; all in the borough of The Bronx, in the city, county and state of New York.

(5) Beginning on Route No. 6, at the intersection of Leggett avenue and Dawson street; running thence northerly in, through upon and along Dawson street to its intersection with Intervale avenue; thence in a northerly direction in, through, upon and along Intervale avenue to its intersection with the route of said New York City Interborough Railway Company at the intersection of Dongan street and Intervale avenue; all in the borough of The Bronx, in the city, county and state of New York.

(6) Beginning on Route No. 6, at the intersection of Whitlock avenue and Leggett avenue; running thence southerly and southwesterly, in, through, upon and along Whitlock avenue to its intersection with Austin place; thence
