gines are of the consolidation type, there we take our turn out and run weighing about 80 tons, and are large both ways-Mackinaw City and Bay enough for track conditions. We also City. Sometimes we do not get a run have two new Schmidt top header super- to Bay City for a month or so unless heaters which we think are the "only enwe trade off, which we have the privigines." At present they are a success lege to do. Engineers are assigned to in regard to fuel saving, but it is thought run on North End from Grayling to by some that unless repairs are kept up Mackinaw, but the firemen run both they will in time prove quite a hardship ways out of Grayling. We have a 182 on the fireman. mile division (Mackinaw Division), and passenger trains and mixed trains go through to Mackinaw out of Bay City.

All members here belong to Alamo Lodge 263, San Antonio, Texas. We have no lodge of our own but we intend to ask for a charter within the next sixty days. We have about 25 members and six or seven applications on file. We are surely in need of a lodge here as we are working below standard and cannot afford to attend lodge meetings as it takes every cent to make both ends meet. Some brothers have not attended lodge since initiation but otherwise are all loyal members. We have practically no working conditions here, the management doing as they see fit in a measure, and our scale is 29 cents per hour on all classes of engines, just the same for firing freight engines as for little eightwheelers. We have two engines of the deckless type without any lagging on boiler head whatever, and a number of times I have burned a suit of overalls out in one trip. We have a committee now at work framing a classified schedule and do not think we are going to have any trouble in securing the improved wage and working conditions it embraces.

Business is rather dull here at present, but we expect it to improve within two or three months. We were unfortunate in not getting in on the Western Concerted Wage Movement, but think we will reap some of the benefits. All of the boys would rather that we had been represented therein.

Our work is very hard and we use asbestol coal. Yard firemen make about ninety dollars per month and a road firemen all the way from sixty-five to eighty-five dollars per month. I would advise those out of work not to come here seeking employment.

LODGE 765-(Harry P. Lauren, Kingston, N. Y.) I have been a member of the B. of L. F. and E. for ten years and a constant reader of the Magazine. Lodge 765 has been organized for four years. We have a membership of about 80 and are in a flourishing condition. About a year ago we accepted a new schedule with which we are pretty well satisfied. It gives us nearly a standard rate of pay. Our road, which is the Ulster and Delaware, is but 107 miles long with a branch of 20 miles which is all mountain and very steep. Our engines are in very good condition when compared with those on other roads. Our worst trouble is poor coal, but I think we will get better fuel in the near future. We have a good set of officials to work under and have the advantage over most of our brothers in not having much night work. When we start out we generally know where we are going to tie up and also know when we are to go out again. About 20 per cent. of our engineers belong to the "Tried and True," of which fact we are very proud. Our new time Lodge attendance is very poor. table went into effect on June 28th last Railroading is dull here at this time and as a result of which we are very busy promotion very slow; we have men here and will be for about three months.
