C. And of his kingdom there shall be no end.
All. *Now unto Him that is able to do

Exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think,
According to the power that worketh in us,
Unto Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus
Throughout all ages, world without end.

M. Seventy weeks are determined
Upon thy people, and upon thy holy city,
To finish the transgression,

And to make an end of sins,

And to make reconciliation for iniquity,
And to bring in everlasting righteousness,
And to seal up the vision and prophecy,
And to anoint the most Holy.

Know therefore and understand,

That from the going forth of the commandment

To restore and to build Jerusalem

Unto the Messiah, the Prince,

Shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks:

The street shall be built again, and the wall,

Even in troublous times.

And after threescore and two weeks

Shall Messiah be cut off, but not for Himself:
And the people of the Prince that shall come,

Shall destroy the city and the sanctuary :

And the end thereof shall be with a flood,

And unto the end of the war desolations are deter

mined.

And He shall confirm the covenant

With many for one week;

And in the midst of the week

He shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease,

And for the overspreading of abominations

He shall make it desolate,

Ephesians iii. 20, 21.

+ Daniel ix. 24-27.

Even until the consummation,

And that determined shall be poured upon the people. P. *In whom we have redemption through his blood, C. The forgiveness of sins,

According to the riches of his grace.

P. Wherein He hath abounded towards us

In all wisdom and prudence.

C. Having made known unto us

The mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure, Which He hath purposed in Himself.

All. That in the dispensation of the fulness of times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, Both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; Even in Him.

To the praise of the glory of his grace,

Wherein He hath made us accepted in the Beloved.

M. †And at that time shall Michael stand up,

[ocr errors]

The great prince who standeth for the children of thy people;

And there shall be a time of trouble,

Such as never was since there was a nation

Even to that same time:

And at that time thy people shall be delivered,

Every one that shall be found written in the book.

And many of them that sleep

In the dust of the earth shall awake,

Some to everlasting life,

And some to shame and everlasting contempt..

And they that be wise

Shall shine as the brightness of the firmament

And they that turn many to righteousness

As the stars for ever and ever.

P. And there was war in heaven:

C. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon;

Ephesians i. 7-10, 6.

+ Daniel xii. 1-3.

1 Rev. xii. 7-12.

P. And the dragon fought and his angels,

C. And prevailed not;

P. Neither was their place found any more in heaven.
C. And the great dragon was cast out,

That old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan,

Who deceiveth the whole world:

P. He was cast out into the earth,

And his angels were cast out with him.

All. Now is come salvation, and strength,

And the kingdom of our God, and the power of his
Christ:

For the accuser of our brethren is cast down,

Who accused them before our God day and night.
And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb,
And by the word of their testimony:

And they loved not their lives unto the death.
Therefore rejoice, ye heavens,

And ye that dwell in them.

P. *For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven

With a shout, with the voice of the archangel,

And with the trump of God:

C. And the dead in Christ shall rise first:

P. Then we who are alive and remain

Shall be caught up together with them in the clouds,
To meet the Lord in the air:

All. And so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Amen.

XIX. THE MESSIAH. (PART VIII.)

M. For thus saith the Lord of Hosts:

Yet once, it is a little while,

* 1 Thess. iv. 16, 17.

+ Haggai ii. 6-9.

[ocr errors]

And I will shake the heavens, and the earth,
And the sea, and the dry land;

And I will shake all nations,

And the Desire of all nations shall come:

And I will fill this house with glory,
Saith the Lord of Hosts.

The silver is mine, and the gold is mine,
Saith the Lord of Hosts,

The glory of this latter house

Shall be greater than of the former,
Saith the Lord of Hosts;

And in this place will I give peace,
Saith the Lord of Hosts.

P. *And this word, Yet once more,

Signifieth the removing of those things

That are shaken, as of things that are made;

C. That those things which cannot be shaken may remain.
All. Wherefore, we receiving a kingdom

That cannot be shaken, let us have grace,
Whereby we may serve God acceptably
With reverence and godly fear;

For our God is a consuming fire.

P. †Behold, a greater than Jonas is here.

C. Behold, a greater than Solomon is here.

All. §In this place is One greater than the Temple.
M. Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion:

For, lo! I come,

And I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith the Lord. And many nations shall be joined to the Lord

In that day, and shall be my people:

And I will dwell in the midst of thee,

And thou shalt know

That the Lord of Hosts hath sent me unto thee.

* Hebrews xii. 27-29.

+ Matt. xii. 41.

Matt. xii. 42.

? Matt. xii. 6.

Zech. ii. 10-13.

And the Lord shall inherit Judah
His portion in the Holy Land,
And shall choose Jerusalem again.

Be silent, O all flesh, before the Lord;

For He is raised up out of his holy habitation. P. *On the Gentiles also was poured out

The gift of the Holy Ghost.

C. †Then hath God also to the Gentiles

Granted repentance unto life.

All. And God, who knoweth the hearts, bear them witness,
Giving them the Holy Ghost, even as He did unto us;
And put no difference between us and them,
Purifying their hearts by faith.

For there is no difference between the Jew and the
Greek:

For the same Lord over all

Is rich unto all that call upon Him.

M. §Thus speaketh the Lord of Hosts, saying,
Behold the man whose name is The Branch;
And He shall grow up out of his place,
And He shall build the temple of the Lord,
Even He shall build the temple of the Lord :
And He shall bear the glory,

And shall sit and rule upon his throne;

And He shall be a Priest upon his throne;

And the counsel of peace shall be between them both. P. ||Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, C. But fellow-citizens with the saints,

And of the household of God;

P. And are built upon the foundation

Of the apostles and prophets,

C. Jesus Christ Himself being the chief corner-stone;
All. In whom all the building, fitly framed together,
