Jesus, my God!-I know his name— His name is all my trust; Nor will he put my soul to shame, 3. Firm as his throne, his promise stands, And he can well secure What I've committed to his hands, 4. Then will he own my worthless name, Before his Father's face, 1. O THOU, whose own vast temple stands, 2. Lord, from thine inmost glory send, The peace that dwelleth, without end, 3. May erring minds that worship here And they who mourn, and they who fear, 4. May faith grow firm, and love grow warm, And pure devotion rise, While round these hallowed walls the storm Of earth-born passion dies. 1. O! THOU whose ever wakeful eye 2. With thy kind guardian wing o'ershade Thy servant's slumbering head, And through the visions of the night 3. Let wearied nature, in thine arms Till to his gladdened eyes, the morn 2. He bows the heavens; the mountains stand 2. To all that's good, averse and blind, A highway for our God; He walks amid the desert land; 3. The forests in his strength rejoice; 4. In every stream his bounty flows, In every breeze his Spirit blows,- 5. His blessings fall in plenteous showers That teems with foliage, fruits, and flowers, 6. If God hath made this world so fair, But prone to all that's ill; What dreadful darkness veils our mind! 3. Yet, mighty God, thy wondrous love 4. The second Adam shall restore 2. His conscience knows no secret stings, While peace and joy combine, 3. He waits in secret on his God; 4. His pleasures rise from things unseen, 5. He wants no pomp nor royal throne 1. YE golden lamps of heaven, farewell, 2. And thou, refulgent orb of day, In brighter flames arrayed, My soul, that springs beyond thy sphere, 3. Ye stars are but the shining dust Of my divine abode, The pavement of those heavenly courts, 4. The Father of eternal light, Shall there his beams display; 5. No more the drops of piercing grief 6. There all the millions of his saints And each the bliss of all shall view, 1. Now that the sun is gleaming bright, Implore we, bending low, That He, the uncreated light, May guide us as we go. 2. No sinful word, nor deed of wrong, Nor thoughts that idly rove; But simple truth be on our tongue, And in our hearts be love. 3. And while the hours in order flow, O Christ, securely fence Our gates beleagured by the foe, 4.
