NEWS FROM HERE AND THERE.

Chicago Social Drug Club.-We celebrated our first anniversary November 20 with a stag card party at the Sherman House. It was the most successful event in

our existence. A piano player kindly furnished by the Cable Piano Co. helped make the evening pleasant. We had some of the amber liquid and plenty of lunch to fortify the inner man. Cinch was the order of the evening and about one hundred took part. It was a cinch for the following gentlemen who took away the prizes:

Emil E. Pick, silk umbrella; O. F. Neithammer, pair kid gloves; Geo. Haering, box cigars; A. E. Fechter, box cigars; E. C. Smith, half dozen neckties.

Four druggists and one salesman, Geo. Haering, again to the front-wonder where he will land. After the contest which had eight innings, some settled down to a game of good old-fashioned pinochle, others played hearts, still another set were still strong and hiked down to the bowling alley led by H. F. Matthews and Max Sobel the champions and wound up Some with strikes, spares, railroads and ditches. more entertainments of this kind will help wonderfully to make us slave druggists forget, for a few hours at least, business cares, make us better men and help create a better feeling for one another. The second Monday in December our annual meeting will be a banner one. Officers are to be elected and some very lively contests are looked for. Visiting druggists in Chicago are cordially invited to spend an evening with us if occasion permits.-[HENRY F. SCHAPER, Secretary.

A Worthy Organization.-June 20, 1890, fifteen years ago, several employes of the Meyer Brothers Drug Co. conceived the idea of forming a mutual sick benefit organization for the employes of the Meyer Brothers Drug Co. only.

A meeting was called by the employes of said firm and a good number responded. The above idea was presented and approved by all present.

Whereupon, rules, regulations and by-laws were formulated and adopted, and the organization “Meyer Brothers Employes' Mutual Aid Association" was called into existence and duly incorporated at Jefferson City, Mo.

The objects of the association are to establish a fund for the relief of its sick and disabled, and to assist in the burial of its deceased members, to cultivate amicable relations among ourselves, to encourage habits of industry and morality, and to promote the general welfare of each other.

Any employe of Meyer Brothers Drug Co., in good health and of good moral character, over the age of fifteen years, is eligible to membership, provided he or she has been in the employ of the company thirty days before being admitted.

Officers 1905-6.-J. H. Barsachs, president; Louis Heilman, first vice-president; Chas. Sublett, second vice-president; A. H. Balmer, third vice-president; E. J. Habegger, treasurer; H. P.

Hobbs, secretary. Board of Directors.-Chas. Rasch, A. C. Meyer, A. Daniels, O. Rosskopf, Lee Hines, Fred Coy, Chas. Passmore, John Weitz, B. Vennewitz.

The association has come to the relief of many of its sick and disabled members in the past fifteen years and expects to keep up the good work in the future. Every eligible employe of the Meyer Brothers Drug Co. should become a member. We learn that the Meyer Brothers Drug Co. is in full sympathy with the organization.

Henry Moffet, formerly of Kansas City, is now located with Schopflin Pharmacy, Fifth and Edmond Streets, St. Joseph, Mo.

A. Ph. A. Affairs at Indianapolis are progressing satisfactorily. Local Secretary Frank H. Carter has appointed his committees to arrange for the September 3, 1906, meeting. According to a local newspaper he has 225 retail drug stores in Indianapolis to draw from and about 2,200 registered pharmacists in the state of Indiana.

TRADE NOTE.

Bromo Seltzer has long been a popular article in the drug trade. The manufacturers are liberal in their advertising to create a demand and also remember that the retail druggist should make a good profit. The Emerson Drug Co. now makes three special offers, and we are pleased to call the attention of the subscribers of the MEYER BROTHERS DRUGGIST to the announcement and detail information given on page 21 of this issue.
