DOXOLOGIES.

1. Common Metre.
To Thee, whose temple is all space;

Whose altar, earth, sea, skies;
One chorus let all beings raise,

All nature's incense rise.

II.

Long Metre.
Be thou, O God, exalted high;
And as thy glory fills the sky,
So let it be on earth displayed,
Till thou art here as there obeyed.

III. Short Metre.
To God the only wise,

Our Saviour and our King,
Let all who dwell below the skies
Their grateful praises sing.

IV. Hallelujah Metre.
Now to the King of Heaven
Your cheerful voices raise;
To him be glory given,
Power, majesty and praise.

Wide as he reigns,
His name be sung,
By every tongue,
In endless strains.

V. Seven Syllable Metre.
All who vital breath enjoy,
In God's praise that breath employ,
And in one great chorus join;
Praise, O praise the name divine.
VI.

Ten Syllable Metre.
Burst into praise, my soul! all nature join!
Angels and men in harmony combine;
While human years are measured by the sun,
And while eternity its course shall run.
VII.

Eleven Syllable Metre. COME, let us adore Him, come, bow at his feet; O give him the glory, the praise that is meet; Let joyful hosannas unceasing arise, And join the full chorus that gladdens the skies.

It was thought unnecessary to give Doxologies in any other than the above simple metres. An easy transition may be made from other metres into one of these. The Long Metre Doxology may be sung with a hymn in Long Metre Six Lines ; the Seven Syllable Metre Doxology may be sung with a hymn in Eight and Seven Syllable Metre; and so on, according to the taste and discretion of the Minister or Choir.
