WEDNESDAY, MAY 26.

Mr. Gilman, from the Joint Committee for Enrolled Bills, reported that the committee did, yesterday, wait on the President of the United States, and present him with four enrolled bills; one entitled "An act to prescribe the mode in which the Public Acts, Records, and Judicial Proceedings, in each State, shall be authenticated, so as to take effect in every other State;" another, entitled "An act to provide for mitigating or remitting the Forfeitures and Penalties accruing under the Reveuue Laws, in certain cases therein mentioned; another, entitled "An act to continue in force an act, passed at the last session of Congress, entitled 'An act to regulate Processes in the Courts of the United States;" and another, entitled "An act for the government of the Territory of the United States South of the river Ohio;" for his approbation.

A petition of sundry merchants of the town of Wilmington, in the State of North Carolina, was presented to the House and read, praying relief against the payment of certain duties, which they conceive were unjustly exacted from them, under the operation of a law of the said State.

Ordered, That the said petition, together with the petition of John Wood, which lay on the table, be referred to the Secretary of the Treasury, with instruction to examine the same, and report his opinion thereupon to the House.

A petition of John Frederick Amelung, proprietor of a glass manufactory, at New Bremen, in the State of Maryland, was presented to the House and read, praying the patronage of Congress to his undertaking, and that Government will assist him with a loan of money, or other means to further the same.

A message was received from the President of the United States, by Mr. Lear, his Secretary, notifying that the President has approved of two acts; one, entitled "An act to prescribe the mode in which the Public Acts, Records, and Judicial Proceedings, in each State, shall be authenticated, so as to take effect in every other State; the other, entitled "An act to provide for mitigating or remitting the Forfeitures and Penalties accruing under the Revenue Laws, in certain cases therein mentioned; and affixed his signature to the same this day.
