The joy that from thy presence springs;
To spend one day with thee on earth,

Might I enjoy the meanest place,
Within thy house, O God of grace,

Would tempt me to desert thy door.
All needed grace wilt thou bestow,
And crown thy grace with ele
Here in thy name, eternal God!
We build this earthly house for thee;
O choose it for thy blest abode,
And guard it long from error free.
And dying sinners pray to live,
Here, when thy people seek thy face,
Hear thou in heav'n thy dwelling place,
And when thou hearest, Lord, forgive.
Here, when thy messengers proclaim
Still by the pow'r of his great name,
The blessed gospel of thy Son,
