Excerpt from The Gas-Engine a Treatise on the Internal-Combustion Engine Using Gas: Gasoline, Kerosene, Alcohol, or Other Hydrocarbon as Source of Energy

In the preparation of the first and second editions of this text; the first idea was most prominently before the author's mind, but the development of the internal combustion motor, and the numbers concerned in its design and manufacture have made it appear desirable to amplify certain parts of the treatment, so as to cover more of the quantitative requirement of the engineer and builder. It is hoped that such features will be appreciated and will add to the reference value of the book.
