Mere Motion with the assent and consent of Our well beloved and trusty Cousin and Councillor Henry Viscount Falkland, Our Deputy General of Our said Realm of Ireland, and also according to the tenor and effect of certain Our Letters signed by Our Own Hand and under Our Signet, bearing date at Our Palace of Westminster on the 30th day of November in the third year of Our Reign of England, Scotland, France and Ireland, and now enrolled on the Rolls of Our Chancery of Our said Realm of Ireland, have raised and advanced and by these Presents for Us Our Heirs and Successors do raise and advance the aforesaid Lewis Boyle to and into the Estate, Rank, Title and Honour of Baron of Bandon Bridge in the County of Cork in Our said Realm of Ireland, and him the said Lewis Boyle by the tenor of these Presents do make, constitute and create Baron of Bandon Bridge aforesaid within Our said Realm of Ireland, and to and upon the same Lewis have imposed, given and bestowed and by these Presents for Us Our Heirs and Successors do impose, give and bestow the Name, Style and Title of Baron of Bandon Bridge and him the said Lewis do really and fully invest with the same Name, Style, Estate, Rank and Honour of Baron of Bandon Bridge, TO HAVE AND TO HOLD THE SAME ESTATE, Rank, Title, NAME AND HONOUR OF BAaron of BandON BRIDGE TO THE AFORESAID LEWIS BOYLE AND THE HEIRS MALE OF HIS BODY LAWFULLY BEGOTTEN FOR EVER and for default of such issue WE WILL THAT THE SAME HONOUR, STYLE AND TITLE OF Baron of Bandon Bridge shall rEMAIN And go to the HEIRS MALE OF THE BODY OF THE SAID RICHARD EARL OF CORK, and by these Presents We do give, grant and confirm the same Honour, Style, Estate Rank and Title of Baron of Bandon Bridge, IN DEFAULT OF ISSUE MALE OF THE BODY OF THE SAID LEWIS, TO THE HEIRS MALE OF THE BODY OF THE SAID EARL OF CORK, and for default of such issue THAT THE AFORESAID HONOUR SHOULD BE AND REMAIN TO THE RIGHT HEIRS MALE OF THE SAID EARL FOR EVER. And further, We will and by these Presents for Us Our Heirs and Successors do Grant To THE AFORESAID LEWIS AND THE HEIRS MALE OF HIS BODY LAWFULLY BEGOTTEN, and for default of such issue TO THE HEIRS MALE OF THE BODY OF THE SAid Earl, and for default of such issue TO THE RIGHT HEIRS MALE OF THE SAID EARL, that they and every of them shall successively for ever bear and have and every of them bear and have the Name, Style, Estate, Rank, Title and Honour of Baron of Bandon Bridge within the said Realm of Ireland, and that they shall have, hold and possess and every of them have, hold and possess the Seat, Place and Voice in every the Parliament of Us Our Heirs and Successors in Our said Realm of Ireland to be holden as a Baron or Barons of Our said Realm of Ireland, and as a Peer or Peers of Our said Realm of Ireland shall in all things be held, treated and reputed, and every of them held, treated and reputed, And further shall enjoy and use and every of them enjoy and use, as a Baron of Our said Realm of Ireland, so many and such Rights, Privileges, Prerogatives, Preeminences and immunities to the Estate, Rank and Honour of a Baron of Our said Realm of Ireland rightfully and by Law belonging, as and which other the Barons of Our said Realm of Ireland have better and most honourably used and enjoyed or do at present use and enjoy. And further of Our more Abundant and Especial Grace and of Our Certain Knowledge and Mere Motion, by and with the assent and consent aforesaid, and also according to the tenor and effect of Our before mentioned Letters, him the aforesaid Lewis Boyle continually pursuing with Our Gracious Power, and intending to advance him to a higher Rank of Honour and Nobility, We have raised, promoted and advanced, and by these Presents for Us Our Heirs and Successors do erect, promote and advance the aforesaid Lewis Boyle to be Viscount Boyle of Kynalmeaky in the County of Cork in Our said Kingdom of Ireland, and him the said Lewis do constitute, make and create Viscount Boyle of Kynalmeaky, and also to and upon the same Lewis have imposed, given and granted, and by these Presents for Us Our Heirs and Successors do impose, give and grant the Name, Style, Estate, Title, Honour and Dignity of Viscount Boyle of Kynalmeaky in Our said Kingdom of Ireland together with the aforesaid Title of Baron of Bandon Bridge, with all and singular Preeminences, Prerogatives and immunities to the like Estate of Viscount belonging or pertaining, and him the said Lewis do by these Presents distinguish, invest, adorn and really ennoble with the like Estate, Rank, Style, Title, Honour and Dignity of Viscount Boyle of Kynalmeaky, To HAVE AND TO HOLD THE NAME, ESTATE, RANK, STYLE, TITLE, HONOUR AND DIGNITY OF VISCOUNT BOYLE OF KYNALMEAKY AFORESAID, TOGETHER WITH THE AFORESAID HONOUR OF BARON OF BANDON BRIDGE, and with all

and singular Preeminences, Honours, Prerogatives and immunities to the like Estate of Viscount belonging or pertaining, TO THe aforesaid LewIS AND THE HEIRS MALE OF HIS BODY LAWFULLY TO BE BEGOTTEN; and for default OF SUCH ISSUE THE SAME HONOUR, STYLE, TITLE AND DIGNITY OF VISCOUNT BOYLE OF KYNALMEAKY WE WILL TO REMAIN AND DESCEND TO THE HEIRS MALE OF THE BODY OF THE SAID RICHARD EARL OF CORK, And We do give, grant and confirm by these Presents the same Honour, Style and Dignity of Viscount Boyle of Kynalmeaky, in default of Issue Male of the body of the said Lewis, TO THE HEIRS MALE OF THE BODY OF THE SAID EARL, AND FOR DEFAULT OF SUCH ISSUE THE AFORESAID HONOUR TO BE AND REMAIN TO THE RIGHT HEIRS MALE OF THE SAID EARL FOR EVER. And further We will and by these Presents for Us Our Heirs and Successors DO GRANT TO THE AFORESAID LEWIS AND THE HEIRS MALE OF HIS BODY LAWFULLY TO BE BEGOTTEN, AND FOR DEFAULT OF SUCH ISSUE TO THE HEIRS MALE OF THE BODY OF THE SAID EARL, AND FOR DEFAULT OF SUCH ISSUE TO THE RIGHT HEIRS MALE OF THE SAID EARL, that they and every of them successively for ever shall have and bear and each of them shall have and bear the Name, Estate, Rank, Title, Style and Honour of Viscount Boyle of Kynalmeaky, and by the name of Viscount Boyle of Kynalmeaky shall be called and named and every of them be called and named; and they and every of them shall in all things be held, treated and reputed and each of them be held, treated and reputed as a Viscount or Viscounts of Our said Kingdom of Ireland, and shall have, hold and possess and every of them have, hold and possess Place, Seat and Voice in the Parliaments and Public Assemblies and Councils of Us Our Heirs and Successors within Our said Kingdom of Ireland among the other Viscounts of Our said Kingdom of Ireland as a Viscount or Viscounts of Our said Kingdom of Ireland, and also shall enjoy and use and every of them enjoy and use all and singular Privileges, Preeminences, Prerogatives and immunities to the Estate of a Viscount of Our said Kingdom of Ireland rightfully and by law belonging or pertaining, as and which other Viscounts of Our said Kingdom of Ireland have better and most honourably used and enjoyed before this time or do at present enjoy and use. We will also &c. Albeit &c. In witness whereof we have caused these Our Letters to be made Patent. Witness our aforesaid Deputy General of Our Kingdom of Ireland at Dublin on the 28th day of February in the third year of Our Reign. By virtue of Letters of Our Lord the King sent from England and Signed with His Our Hand.

[Lewis Viscount Kynalmeaky was born in 1619. He died without issue on the 3rd of September 1642, and on the death of his Father, in the following year, the Dignities of Viscount Kynalmeaky and Baron of Bandon Bridge devolved upon Richard the Second Earl of Cork, and

they have since been vested in the Earls of Cork.]

Translation of the operative part of the Letters Patent which granted the Honour and Dignity of Baron of Broghill to Roger Boyle, the Third surviving Son of Richard Earl of Cork.

Charles by the Grace of God of England, Scotland, France and Ireland King, Defender of the Faith, &c., to the Archbishops, Dukes, Marquises, Earls, Viscounts, &c. Greeting. ****

And for default of such issue, We will that the same Honour, Style and Title of Lord Boyle Baron. of Broghill shall remain and go to THE HEIRS MALE OF THE BODY OF RICHARD EARL OF CORK, and the same Honour, Style and Title of Lord Boyle Baron of Broghill We do give, grant and have confirmed by these Presents IN DEFAULT OF ISSUE MALE OF THE BODY OF THE SAID ROGER TO THE HEIRS MALE OF THE BODY OF THE SAID EARL, AND FOR DEFAULT OF SUCH ISSUE THAT THE HONOUR AFORESAID BE AND REMAIN TO THE RIGHT HEIRS MALE OF THE SAID EARL FOR EVER. And further we will and by these Presents for Us Our Heirs and Successors do grant to the aforesaid Roger AND THE HEIRS MALE OF HIS BODY LAWFULLY TO BE BEGOTTEN, AND FOR DEFAULT OF SUCH ISSUE TO THE HEIRS MALE OF THE BODY OF THE SAID EARL, AND FOR DEFAULT OF SUCH ISSUE TO THE RIGHT HEIRS MALE OF THE SAID EARL, that they and every of them shall successively for ever bear and have and every of them bear and have the Name, Style, Estate, Rank, Title and Honour of Lord Boyle Baron of Broghill aforesaid. [Roger Boyle Lord Broghill, the Grantee, was born in 1621, and was seven years of age

when the Letters Patent were granted. Although he had been an active and zealous supporter of Cromwell, he was created Earl of Orrery soon after the Restoration, and on the 5th of September 1660. His Great-grandson John the Fifth Earl of Orrery and Lord Broghill succeeded in 1753 as the Fifth Earl of Cork, and the Dignity of Lord Broghill has since that time been vested in the Earls of Cork.]
