FACTS, HINTS, AND GEMS. The Fireside. THE FIRESIDE is the place for wives and mothers. Here woman reigns, and from her gentle hand "Strews with fresh flowers the rugged path of life.” Our firesides are the pure fountains from whence all the virtues and graces of humanity spring; and never will they be muddled by either infidelity or popery so long as they are sanctified by the word of God and by prayer. Let mothers see to this. To aid them in this great national and christian work we usually devote this page of our contents; and we wish now to say, that next year we hope to be favoured with some written papers from christian mothers on this subject. We know that they often think on these things, and we wish they would venture to commit their thoughts to writing and send them to us. We will make them ready for print, and never abuse their confidence. The Penny Post Box. THIS, we again remind our readers, is open at all times to receive whatever papers any of them may think proper to send, post paid, to the Editor, who will carefully prepare them for the press, providing they are suitable. One page is also devoted to these every month. Facts, Hints, and Gems. Facts. LONDON BRIDGE.-About 13,000 carriages of all descriptions pass over this great thoroughfare in twelve hours every day.
