The instances recorded in the New Testament of men "continuing instant in prayer" are familiar to all.
JESUS, “our great Example,” kneeled down and prayed ; and “ continued all night in prayer to God."
He prayed for His enemies as well as for His disciples.

for grace to persevere in doing so, both at church (when it is possible) and at night and morning.
The Prayers hereafter written down are meant rather to suggest thoughts for prayer than as forms to be always used.
1. They may merely be read over from time to time as suggestive of prayerful thoughts.
2. Or they may be taken as the foundation or keel on which to uprear that ship of daily prayer which must be daily launched to heaven.
3. Or they may be used as forms of prayer, great care being taken to say them from the heart, and thus prevent them from becoming formal.

EVENING PRAYERS Which may be said after a heavy day's
work, or if you have been employed up to the time for turning in.
LORD, have mercy. CHRIST, have mercy. LORD, have mercy.
Our FATHER which art in heaven, hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive them that trespass against us.
