that Thou hast been pleased to feed me, Thy unworthy servant, with the Heavenly Food of Thy precious Body and Blood; and humbly I beseech Thee to grant that all we who have knelt at Thine Altar this day may evermore dwell in Thee, and Thou in us. Pardon the wandering thoughts, the weakness of faith, and whatever else Thou hast seen amiss in our Service of Thanksgiving; and grant that being refreshed by this Heavenly Feast, we may go forth strengthened for our Christian warfare; that so, having fought the good fight, we may win the Crown, and enter into the joy of our LORD. Amen.

"Now unto Him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in His own Blood, and hath made us kings and priests unto GOD, His Father: to Him be glory and dominion for ever and ever." Amen.-Revelation i. 5, 6. Worthy is the Lamb that was slain, to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing." Amen.-Revelation v. 12.

66

O LORD JESU CHRIST, who saidst unto Thine Apostles, "Peace I leave with you, My peace I give unto you;" regard not our sins, but the faith of Thy Church; and grant Her that peace and unity which is agreeable_to Thy will; who livest with the FATHER and HOLY SPIRIT, one GOD for ever

more.

O Blessed LORD, who in the wonderful Sacrament of Thy love hast left us a memorial of Thy Passion; grant us, we beseech Thee, so to venerate the Sacred Mysteries of Thy Body and Blood, that we may ever feel within ourselves the fruit of Thy Redemption; who livest and reignest with the FATHER, in the unity of the HOLY SPIRIT, one GOD for ever. Amen.

MONDAY, AFTER COMMUNION. Almighty LORD, who hast given us Thy only begotten SON to take our nature upon Him, and to be born of a pure Virgin; grant that we, being regenerate and made Thy children by adoption and grace, may daily be renewed by Thy Holy Spirit, through

the same our LORD JESUS CHRIST, who liveth and reigneth with Thee and the same Spirit, ever one GOD, world without end. Amen.

TUESDAY.

O GOD, who hast prepared for them that love Thee such good things as pass man's understanding, pour into our hearts such love toward Thee that we, loving Thee above all things, may obtain Thy promises, which exceed all that we can desire; through JESUS CHRIST our Lord. Amen.

WEDNESDAY.

LORD of all power and might, who art the Author and Giver of all good things, graft in our hearts the love of Thy Name, increase in us true religion, nourish us with all goodness, and of Thy great mercy keep us in the same; through JESUS CHRIST our Lord. Amen.

Hymns which may fitly be read in preparation or thanksgiving for Holy Communion, or during the celebration itself:

1 BREAD of heaven! on Thee we feed,
For Thy flesh is meat indeed.
Ever let our souls be fed

With this true and living Bread.
Day by day with strength supplied
Through the life of Him who died.
2 Vine of heaven! Thy Blood supplies
This blest cup of sacrifice.

LORD! Thy wounds our healing give;
To Thy Cross we look, and live.
JESU, may we ever be

Rooted, grafted, built on Thee! Amen.

1 DRAW nigh and take the Body of the LORD, And drink the holy Blood for you outpoured. 2 Saved by that Body and that holy Blood, With souls refreshed, we render thanks to God. 3 Salvation's Giver, CHRIST, the Only SON, By His dear Cross and Blood the victory won. 4 Offered was He for greatest and for least, Himself the Victim, and Himself the Priest. 5 Victims were offered by the law of old,

Which in a type this heavenly mystery told. 6 He, Ransomer from death, and Light from shade,

Now gives His holy grace His saints to aid.

7 Approach ye then with faithful hearts sincere, And taste the pledges of salvation here.

8 He, that in this world rules His saints and shields,

9

To all believers life eternal yields;

With heavenly Bread makes them that hunger whole,

Gives living Waters to the thirsting soul.

10 O First and Last, to whom all creatures bow, Our GoD and SAVIOUR, Thou art with us now.

Amen.

I MY GOD, and is Thy table spread,
And doth Thy cup with love o'erflow?
Thither be all Thy children led,

And let them all Thy sweetness know.

2 Hail, sacred feast, which JESUS makes,
Rich banquet of His Flesh and Blood!
Thrice happy he who here partakes
That sacred stream, that heavenly food.

3 Why are its dainties all in vain
Before unwilling hearts displayed?
Was not for them the Victim slain?
Are they forbid the children's bread?

4 Oh, let Thy table honoured be,
And furnished well with joyful guests,
And may each soul salvation see,
That here its sacred pledges tastes! Amen.

I O GOD, unseen yet ever near!
Thy presence may we feel;
And thus inspired with holy fear
Before Thine altar kneel!

2 Here may Thy faithful people know
The blessings of Thy love;

The streams that through the desert flow, The manna from above!

3 We come, obedient to Thy word,
To feast on heavenly food;
Our meat the Body of the Lord,
Our drink His precious Blood.

4

Thus may we all Thy words obey,

For we, O GOD, are Thine;

And go rejoicing on our way,

Renewed with strength divine. Amen.
