O Israel, trust in the LORD, for with the LORD there is mercy, and with Him is plenteous redemption.

And He shall redeem Israel from all his sins.

Glory be to the FATHER, &c.
LORD, have mercy, &c.

Our FATHER, &c.

O most Mighty GOD and Merciful Father, who dost correct those whom Thou dost love, and in very faithfulness dost afflict the children of men; I pray Thee to give me grace patiently to bear the sufferings which Thou hast seen fit to lay upon me, and to submit myself wholly to Thy will.

O LORD, in the midst of judgment Thou hast remembered Mercy. I thank Thee that while thousands fall around me, Thou hast yet spared my life, and given me hopes of recovery, and longer service to Thy glory upon earth. Help me to spend the remainder of my days in Thy faith and fear; that, this life ended, I may dwell with Thee in life everlasting; through JESUS CHRIST our Lord. Amen.

O Almighty GOD, whose most

dearly beloved SON for the forgiveness of our sins did shed out of His most Precious Side both Water and Blood; grant me without all doubt to believe in Thy SON JESUS CHRIST, and to look unto Him for pardon and peace; that I may be cleansed from all my sins, and serve Thee with a quiet mind; through the same Thy Blessed SON. Amen.

O Saviour of the world, who by Thy Cross and Precious Blood hast redeemed us, save me and help me, I humbly beseech Thee, O LORD.

SHORT PRAYERS.

To be said by the Sick and the Wounded, as opportunity may offer.

We adore Thee, O CHRIST, and we bless Thee, who, by Thy Cross and Passion, hast redeemed the world.

O JESUS, Saviour of sinners, by that unjust sentence of death pronounced against Thee, deliver me from the sentence of eternal death which my sins have so justly deserved.

O JESUS, Saviour of sinners, who

didst voluntarily take upon Thyself the heavy Cross of my sins, make me feel their heavy weight, and make me heartily sorry for them the remainder of my life.

O JESUS, Saviour of sinners, who didst voluntarily take on Thyself the shame and confusion of my sins, make me to be ashamed and confounded for them.

O JESUS, Saviour of sinners, who didst voluntarily die a painful and a shameful death, grant me to die to sin, and to live to Thee.

O JESUS, Saviour of sinners, who didst voluntarily suffer shame and torture for us, make me to suffer patiently for love of Thee.

O JESUS, Saviour of sinners, and Captain of our salvation, who wast made perfect through suffering, correct me here, and spare me in eternity.

LORD, remember me when Thou comest into Thy kingdom. I believe in Thee, O LORD, but may I believe. more firmly. I hope in Thee, O LORD, but may I hope more fully. I love Thee, O LORD, but may I love more

ardently. I grieve that I have offended Thee, O LORD, but may I grieve more sincerely.

I adore Thee, as my first beginning. I long after Thee, as my last end. I praise Thee, as my ceaseless Benefactor. I call upon Thee, as my Refuge and my Defence.

Direct me by Thy wisdom, protect me by Thy power, comfort me by Thy mercy, and save me by Thy love.

I pray Thee, O LORD, to enlighten my understanding, to direct my will, to purify my body, and to sanctify my

soul.

May I bewail my past sins, resist future temptations, correct vicious desires, and cultivate all virtues.

Grant me, O LORD, the love of Thee, distrust of myself, zeal for my neighbour, and contempt of the world.

Grant me earnestness in prayer, moderation in food, and firmness in my resolves.

Teach me, O LORD, the nothingness of this world, the greatness of Heaven, the shortness of time, and the length of eternity.

Grant that I may

Prepare for Death:
Fear the Judgment:
Escape Hell:

Obtain Heaven.

And this I pray through JESUS CHRIST our Lord. Amen.

Prayer which may be said before an Operation.

"O cast thy burden upon the LORD, and He shall refresh thee and will not suffer the righteous to fall for ever."

LORD, have mercy upon me.
CHRIST, have mercy upon me.
LORD, have mercy upon me.
Our FATHER, &c.

O most merciful FATHER, who rulest all things by the counsel of Thy will, whose hand can wound and heal, who dost bring to the grave, and restorest again to life; I bow myself before Thee, O LORD, and beseech Thee to be merciful unto me, to pardon all my sins, and to preserve me in this hour of danger. Grant me grace patiently to take the sufferings which Thou hast
