knowledge of Christ, and be numbered with thy saints in glory everlasting. May we live in perfect love and peace together, pitying one another's infirmities, and forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, even as Thou, for Christ's sake, hast forgiven us.

Prepare us all for what thy good providence designs for us, and may we be found ready, either to do, or to suffer thy will, as it seemeth best to thy godly wisdom.

And now, O merciful God and Father, forasmuch as the Sabbath is drawing on, prepare our hearts, we most humbly beseech Thee, for thy holy day. If spared to behold the light of it, grant us grace to improve its sacred hours to the glory of thy Name, and the benefit of our souls.

Make us joy

Remember us,

ful in thy house of prayer. we pray Thee, with the favour that Thou bearest unto thy people: O visit us with thy salvation!

Let our prayer come up before Thee in behalf of those whom Thou hast called to serve Thee in the Gospel of thy Son. En

due thy ministers with righteousness: guide and strengthen them by thy Spirit, and make them wise to win souls.

Bless all our friends and relations everywhere. Favourably, with mercy, hear our prayers for them. Let thy fatherly hand ever be over them: let thy Holy Spirit ever be with them.

Finally, we beseech Thee graciously to behold the whole family of mankind, for which our Lord Jesus Christ was contented to be betrayed and to suffer death upon the cross. May He see of the travail of his soul and be satisfied! O thou Lord of the harvest, send forth labourers into thy harvest. Give the word, O God, and great will be the company of those that shall publish it. Let thy way be known upon earth, thy saving health among all nations. Enlarge the hearts of thy servants at home to devise liberal things for the advancement of this work of faith and labour of love. O let thy word run and be glorified, till the fulness of the Gentiles be brought in, and all Israel be saved.

These and all other mercies, for them, for us, and thy whole church, we humbly beg in the name and mediation of Jesus Christ, our most blessed Lord and Saviour. Amen.

Second Week.

LORD'S DAY MORNING.

GLORIOUS Lord God of the Sabbath! who art "the High and Lofty One that inhabitest eternity," and yet condescendest to "inhabit the praises of Israel," help us to praise Thee for this Thy day, and to use it for the gracious purpose for which it was ordained. We bless Thee for the rest of our bodies from the toil and weariness of this world. Much more do we bless Thee for the rest of our souls; that we have a day set apart for thy holy service, "that we may attend upon Thee without distraction."

But when we desire to begin the day with Thee, we are made to feel that "without Thee," O blessed Jesus, "we can

do nothing;" "that in us, that is, in our flesh dwelleth no good thing." Grant us, therefore, we most humbly beseech Thee, all that we need, to engage our hearts for thy service; the Spirit of life and power, of light and love, of faith and prayer, of self-abasement and devotedness.

Be graciously present with us in thy house, O Lord. "May thy good Spirit help our infirmities;" that we may pray the holy prayers of our Church, and find them blessed and acceptable means of "worshipping Thee as a Spirit, in spirit and in truth." May we confess our sins with true brokenness of heart; casting our burden of guilt on the great sacrifice, on which "Thou hast laid the iniquities of us all." May we seek the blessings of thy grace with earnest desire and stedfast faith. May we intercede for all who need or desire our prayers; "remembering them who are in any adversity, as being ourselves also in the body."

Help us to acknowledge our manifold mercies with humble and unfeigned thank
