MAINE STATE LIBRARY,
AUGUSTA, Oct., 24, 1904.

LORIN G. S. FARR, ESQ.,

My Dear Sir:

Manchester, Maine.

I have derived great pleasure and profit from reading in the manuscript your book entitled "The Ideal and Real or The Student's Calendar."

The prologue of the days and years present to one's mind the best thoughts of the best men that the ages of the conscious world have produced. Every one who desires to be truly free, and who wishes to be master of himself, should read this book and ponder its contents. The rare portraits contained within its covers are well worth the price of the book. He who wishes to see clearly, to know fully, to will strenuously, to act wisely, to love deeply, to cherish home and to be truly loyal to his country, should study the prologues of the student's days.

This book will prove a rare and unique volume which will deserve the earnest attention, study and patronage of our best men and women. It is not a book to be glanced over and thrown aside, but one that should be deeply studied and often reread.

Please reserve four copies of your book for the use of this

library.

Sincerely yours,

L. D. CARVER,

STATE LIBRARIAN.
