THIS 'HIS declaration was no sooner published, but

his majesty likewise set forth an answer to that other declaration, of the twenty-sixth of May ; in which he said, “ that whosoever looked over the “ late remonstrance, entitled, A Declaration of the Lords and Commons, of the twenty-sixth of May, “ would not think that his majesty had great reason “ to be pleased with it; yet he could not but "commend the plaindealing and ingenuity of the " framers and contrivers of that declaration, (which “ had been wrought in a hotter and quicker forge “ than any of the rest,) who would no longer suffer “ his majesty to be affronted by being told, they “ would make him a great and glorious king, “ whilst they used all possible skill to reduce him “ to extreme want and indigency; and that they “ would make him to be loved at home, and feared
