11 And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.

12 And when he had 7 considered 7 the thing, he came to the house of Mary the mother of John, whose surname was Mark; where many were gathered 2 Cor. 1. 10. together praying.

13 And as Peter knocked at the door of the gate, a damsel came to hearken, named Rhoda.

14 And when she knew Peter's voice, she opened not the gate for gladness, but ran in, and told how Peter stood before the gate 8.

15 And they said unto her, Thou art mad. But she constantly affirmed that it was even so. Then said they, It is his angel.

16 But Peter continued knocking and when they had opened the door, and saw him, they were astonished.

17 But he, beckoning unto them with the hand to hold their peace, declared unto them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. And he said, Go shew these things unto James, and to the brethren. And he departed, and went into another place.

18 Now as soon as it was day, there was no small stir among the soldiers, what was become of Peter.

19 And when Herod had sought for him, and found him not, he examined the keepers, and commanded that they should be put to death. And he went down from Judæa to Cæsarea, and there abode.

20 T And Herod was highly displeased with them of Tyre and Sidon: but they came with one accord to him, and, having made Blastus the king's chamberlain their friend, desired peace; because their country was nourished by the king's country.

21 And upon a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne, and made an oration unto them.

22 And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a

man.

23 And immediately 9the angel 9 of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.

24 But the word of God grew and multiplied.

1 Paul and Barnabas are chosen to go to the ch. 13. 5, Gentiles. 7 Of Sergius Paulus, and Elymas the sorcerer. 14 Paul preacheth at Antioch, that Jesus is Christ. 42 The Gentiles believe: 45 but the Jews gainsay and blaspheme: 46 whereupon they turn to the Gentiles. 48 As many as were ordained to life believed.

Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets 1 and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with 2 Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.

2 As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, 3d Separate me 3 Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.

3 And when they had fasted and pray-
ed, and laid their hands on them, they
sent them away.

4 So they, being sent forth by the
Holy Ghost, departed unto Seleucia; and
from thence they sailed to Cyprus.
5 And when they were at Salamis, they
preached the word of God in the syna-
gogues of the Jews: and they had also
John to their minister.

6 And when they had gone through the Bisle unto Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name was Bar-jesus:

7 Which was with the deputy of the country, Sergius Paulus, a prudent man; who called for Barnabas and Saul, and desired to hear the word of God.

5 But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed, saying, h That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.

6 ¶ And the apostles and elders came together for to consider of this matter. 7 And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among Bus ß, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe.

8 And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, 'giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us;

9 m And put no difference between us and them, "purifying their hearts by faith. 10 Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?

11 But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus ß Christß we shall be saved, even as they.

12 Then all the multitude kept silence, and gave audience to Barnabas and Paul, declaring what miracles and wonders God had wrought among the Gentiles by them.

13 ¶ And after they had held their peace, James answered, saying, Men and brethren, hearken unto me:

14 BSimeon ß hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name. 15 And to this agree the words of the prophets; as it is written,

16After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle 2 of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up:

17 That the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord, who doeth all these things. 18 Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world B.

19 Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles 3x are turned to God:

20 But that we write unto them, that & 9. 20, 21. they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, B and from things strangled ß, "and from blood.

15 And when she was baptized, and her household, she besought us, saying, If ye have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house, and abide there. And " she constrained us.

17 The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto Busß the way of salvation.

18 And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour.
