The five thousand dollar loan authorized by the Association on December 3rd, 1909, and effected during the years 1911-12 has now been reduced to two thousand dollars.

The sinking fund provided by the Executive Committee will insure the complete payment of this obligation in two years.

The third report of the auditor, appointed by your Executive Board, certifying the books correct to the beginning of the present fiscal year, December 1st, 1913, is annexed to this report for your information.

In conclusion your Secretary-Treasurer desires to express his thanks to the Officers, Committees and the Membership at large for their valuable assistance and hearty co-operation.

Respectfully submitted

CHARLES A. DUCHAMP, ESQ :

Secretary, Louisiana Bar Association

New Orleans, La.

DEAR SIR: I have audited the books of the Louisiana Bar Association for the year beginning December 1st, 1912, and ending November 30th, 1913. I find every expenditure supported by voucher and by check. All cash received has been deposited.

The individual accounts of the members of the Association are properly kept and show their exact standing with the Asso

ciation. The books show great care and accuracy; not a single error appearing in the year's work.

APPENDIX F

REPORT OF COMMITTEE ON LIBRARY

WYNNE G. ROGERS, CHAIRMAN

To the President and Members of the Louisiana Bar Association:

In accordance with the annual custom of this Association, I submit herewith a report of the operations of the library during my term of office.

It is very gratifying to me to be able to announce the steady advancement of the library. It is constantly growing in favor with the members, who, in increasing numbers, daily avail themselves of the facilities it offers them in their work.

In addition to our current subscriptions, we made other purchases during the years. We bought volumes 44 and 75 of the Maine Reports to supply omissions in our set of those reports. Five volumes of the second edition of Merrick's Revised Civil Code, which we purchased at a slight discount, have proven useful. Responding to a demand of the members for text-books, we prepared a list of the more recent works of that character which we submitted to several publishers for sealed bids. The contract was awarded to Callaghan & Co., the lowest bidder. The books are now in the library with the exception of the second volume of Dunn's Pure Food and Drug Manual, which we are to receive when published. These text books have given general satisfaction and are in constant demand.

The report of the Secretary-Treasurer will show during the period from April 12th, 1913, to and including April 30th, 1914, an expenditure of $907.48 in the purchase of books, including current subscriptions and additions. This report will

also show that the expenses of operating the library during this period, including salary of librarian, porter's wages, telephone, light and miscellaneous items, amounted to $2060.65. A charge for the furnishing of electricity has been recently imposed by the City of New Orleans. A meter has been installed and the Association pays monthly for the current used, according to its reading.

The library has been the beneficiary of numerous books, periodicals and pamphlets, which have been sent complimentary by various donors.

Mr. Mascaro, our librarian, has been of great assistance to me in my work of supervising the library. He has a thorough knowledge of its workings and its needs; is courteous and attentive at all times to visitors and members, and his services are invaluable to the Association.

I hereto attach a statement giving in detail the operating expenses of the library, and also containing a list of the books purchased or donated, with the names of the donors during my term of office.

Respectfully submitted

WYNNE G. ROGERS Chairman Library Committee
