No. 5

HOTEL AND RAILROAD RATES.

The Hotel Chisca has been selected as the headquarters for the delegates to the Memphis Convention, by the Committee of Arrangements from Local Union No. 38. The location is South Main and Linden Avenue. The Chisca is a new, modern hotel, absolutely fire-proof, and up to date in every respect. The rates are as follows:

1 person in room without bath, $1.50

1

person in room with bath, $2.00 and $2.50 2 persons in room without bath, $2.50

2 persons in room with bath, $3.50 and $4.50 Arrangements have been made for the use of the convention hall in this hotel, and the committee from No. 38 requests that the delegates make this their headquarters during their stay in Memphis.

The Secretary-Treasurer was unable to get rates from the Passenger Association, and would advise the delegates to inquire for special rates locally, as there may be an excursion south about that time. Or the delegates might look up the ninety-day summer excursion ticket. Delegates from California and the Pacific Coast and intervening points in the Middle West will inquire of their local agents for full particulars as to the best route to take, as the Secretary-Treasurer has been informed that very few of them will travel over the same route to Memphis.

The following are memorandum schedules of trains along the New York Central Lines from Boston and New York and Syracuse, Detroit, Toledo to Cincinnati; along the G. R. & I. Grand Rapids to Cincinnati; Pennsylvania R. R. New York to Cincinnati and from Indianapolis to Louisville, over the L. & N. Should any of the delegates desire to go by way of Chicago they can correspond with International President John T. Kane, who will give information on the best route out of Chicago, as some of the railroads out of said city are unfair to organized labor.

The Secretary-Treasurer has arranged with the Louisville and Nashville Railroad Company for accommodations from Cincinnati to Memphis, by way of Louisville, Ky. Delegates from this section will leave at 6 P. M., on Saturday, arriving at Memphis, at 8:20 Sunday morning. The train leaving Cincinnati Sunday night may not reach Memphis in time for the convention Monday morning. The rate is $17.40 one way, including berth in sleeper. If there is a party of ten, or more, leaving Cincinnati for Memphis, the rate will be $12.90 one way, including berth, with a special car.

Brother Seely has informed the SecretaryTreasurer that the Committe on Arrangements has everything in readiness for the delegates, so that their stay in Memphis will be an enjoyable one, although Tennessee is a dry state. Reports from the various local unions indicate that there will be a large delegation at Memphis.
