NEW YEAR'S GREETING.

In extending New Year's greeting to its many thousands of readers, the ADVOCATE wishes to call attention to the fact that, with this issue, it is not only entering upon a new calendar year, but it also enters the fifteenth year of its existence, and for whatever aid it has been in advancing the cause of our Brotherhood and our Sisterhood-a cause which should be dear to the hearts of every man, woman and child who receive their sustenance from employment in the maintenance-of-way department of some railway-we beg to make due acknowledgment to those who have contributed their interesting and intelligent thoughts to its pages and to ask their continuance. There have been times when we had not room to publish all the letters received from members who show their interest and good will by sending words of encouragement and cheer to their brothers and sisters everywhere through our correspondence columns, and there have been times when, for want of such letters, we have been compelled to use more miscellaneous matter than

we desired to do, but all together the little army of ADVOCATE correspondents have done their duty well and we trust that none have been offended if their letters failed to appear in print. There are some things which even an editor cannot do, and one of them is to put a hundred pages of reading matter into an eighty-page magazine.

The cover page of the ADVOCATE will remain the same for another year, except as to color, as it is the most appropriate and comprehensive picture story that we have been able to plan, but we hope to increase the standard of excellence of the matter contained within its pages, and to this end we appeal to all members and their wives, mothers, sisters and daughters to lend us their assistance.

As the new year gives every promise of being one of unusual activity and prosperity for the railroad interests, we hope every member of the Order will persistently endeavor to increase the membership of the Brotherhood by soliciting and urging his fellow-employes to unite with us, in order that our craft may enjoy their
