Preface

This book contains the full text of Presidential Proclamations, Executive orders, and certain other Presidential documents promulgated during the period January 1, 1949, through December 31, 1953. It is reprinted without change from the text of such documents as they appeared in the 1949– 1953 annual supplements to Title 3 of the Code of Federal Regulations. The tables which precede the text of these annual volumes have not been consolidated, but are reprinted serially. A consolidated index covering the entire period, however, has been supplied.

This book is a continuation of the series of Presidential documents cumulated as of June 1, 1943, in Book 1 of the 1943 Cumulative Supplement to the Code of Federal Regulations, and continued in "Title 3---The President, 1943-1948 Compilation."

This 1949-1953 Compilation of Title 3 is published under section 11 of the Federal Register Act, as amended (67 Stat. 388; 44 U. S. C. 311). The contents of the Federal Register and of this compilation are by law prima. facie evidence of the text of the original documents and are required to be judicially noticed (49 Stat. 502, 67 Stat. 388; 44 U. S. C. 307, 311 (e)). This compilation may be cited “3 CFR, 1949-1953 Comp." Thus, the approved abbreviated citation of Proclamation 2824 appearing herein will be "3 CFR, 1949-1953 Comp., p. 3"
