RAILROADS OF THE UNITED STATES IN 1889-GENERAL EXHIBIT FOR THE FISCAL YEAR.

Length of track laid up to December 31, 1889, 161,396.64 miles. Of which were completed up to the close of the fiscal year of the respective companies, 160,544.24 miles.

Completed since close of fiscal year, 852.40 miles.

Increase in mileage in the calendar year 1889, 5,751.01 miles. Increase of mileage in the fiscal year 1889, 6,268.43 miles. Liabilities and assets of the companies owning the above 160,544.24 miles of line.
