3 Mine will the profit be,
But thine shall be the praise; And unto thee will I devote The remnant of my days.
LORD God, the Holy Ghost!
In this accepted hour,
As on the day of Pentecost, Descend in all thy power.
2 We meet with one accord In our appointed place, And wait the promise of our Lord, The Spirit of all grace.
3 Like mighty rushing wind Upon the waves beneath,
Move with one impulse every mind; One soul, one feeling breathe.
4 The young, the old, inspire With wisdom from above;
And give us hearts and tongues of fire, To pray, and praise, and love.
94. "He dwelleth with you." John 14: 16, 17. MRS STEELE.
IURE the blest Comforter is nigh;
Else would my hope forever die, And every cheering ray depart. 2 Whene'er to call the Saviour mine, With ardent wish my heart aspires, Can it be less than power divine
That animates these strong desires? 3 And when my cheerful hope can say, I love my God, and taste his grace, Lord, is it not thy blissful ray
Which brings this dawn of sacred peace? 4 Let thy kind Spirit in my heart
Forever dwell, O God of love;
And light and heavenly peace impart, Sweet earnest of the joys above.
NOME, gracious Spirit, heavenly Dove, With light and comfort from above; Be thou our guardian, thou our guide, O'er every thought and step preside.
2 The light of truth to us display,
And make us know and choose thy way; Plant holy fear in every heart,
That we from God may ne'er depart.
3 Lead us to holiness-the road
Which we must take to dwell with God; Lead us to Christ, the living way, Nor let us from his pastures stray. 4 Lead us to God, our final rest, To be with him for ever blest;
Lead us to heaven, its bliss to share- Fullness of joy for ever there.
OLY Ghost, with light divine,
Shine upon this heart of mine! Chase the shades of night away, Turn my darkness into day. 2 Holy Ghost, with power divine, Cleanse this guilty heart of mine; Long hath sin, without control, Held dominion o'er my soul.
3 Holy Ghost, with joy divine, Cheer this saddened heart of mine; Bid my many woes depart,
Heal my wounded, bleeding heart!
4 Holy Spirit, all divine!
Dwell within this heart of mine; Cast down every idol-throne ; Reign supreme, and reign alone!
"Ye are the temple." 2 Cor. 6: 16-18.
LOVE divine, all love excelling,
Joy of heaven, to earth come down! Fix in us thy humble dwelling; All thy faithful mercies crown: Jesus! thou art all compassion; Pure, unbounded love thou art : Visit us with thy salvation;
Enter every longing heart.
2 Breathe, oh, breathe thy loving Spirit Into every troubled breast; Let us all thy grace inherit, Let us find thy promised rest: Come, Almighty to deliver, Let us all thy life receive; Hasten thy return, and never, Never more thy temples leave! 3 Finish, Lord, thy new creation; Pure and spotless may we be: Let us see our whole salvation Perfectly secured by thee: Changed from glory into glory,
Till in heaven we take our place; Till we cast our crowns before thee, Lost in wonder, love, and praise.
Thy sacred gifts impart To gladden each sad heart: Oh, come to-day!
2 Come, tend❜rest Friend, and best, Our most delightful guest,
With soothing power: Rest, which the weary know,
Shade, 'mid the noontide glow,
Peace, when deep griefs o'erflow,— Cheer us, this hour!
3 Come, Light serene, and still Our inmost bosoms fill;
Dwell in each breast:
We know no dawn but thine; Send forth thy beams divine, On our dark souls to shine, And make us blest!
