THE celebrated and pious Francis

de Salignac de la Motte Fenelon, Archbishop of Cambray, whose beautiful writings, devoted to the cause of piety and virtue, have endeared his name to every future age, was of an ancient and illustrious family, and born at the castle of Fenelon, in the province of Perigord, which now forms the department of Dordogne, August 6th, 1651.
