These reproductions are veritable facsimiles in colour of the original pictures, and it is no exaggeration to say that they leave far behind all previous attempts, by whatever process, to reproduce Great Masters, whether by chromolithograph, oleograph, collotype, or colour photogravure.

Even by the method now employed, the wonderful results could not have been achieved without Mr. Mortimer Menpes' close co-operation with the engraver at every stage.

A COMPLETE SET OF THE ABOVE PICTURES IS ALWAYS ON
EXHIBITION AT THE PUBLISHERS' OFFICES, 4, 5 AND 6
SOHO SQUARE, LONDON, W., WHERE THEY MAY BE SEEN
DURING BUSINESS HOURS: 9.0 A.M. TO 6.0 P.M.; SATUR-
DAYS, 9.0 A.M. TO 1.0 P.M.

'A series of reproductions in colour that stand unrivalled for sheer excellence. The most subtle gradations of tone and-colour, the texture of canvas and paint, the luminous transparency of the half-shadows, the sonorous depth of the deep shadows, the crisp accents of the high lightseverything is rendered with astounding accuracy.-P. G. KONODY, in The Observer.

'The claims made on behalf of the "Menpes Series of Great Masters" by Messrs. A. and C. Black, the publishers, are more than justified. Both in price and in quality the facsimile soutstrip all other reproductions in the past, and as far as we know at present in the market. Colour, crackle, old varnish, and tone are by this process faithfully rendered.'-The Daily Mail.

This is a series of Little Colour Books' for Little Readers, and is meant to give children a glimpse at the scenes and customs of their own and other lands. Each book is written in a simple and interesting style, and nowhere smacks of the geographical textbook. The little volumes are not designed as lesson-books, though much may be learned from them; but the aim is that the child shall gain this instruction through the sheer pleasure of reading. A strong feature is made of the work and play of children in the land under description, and the general ways of life among the people form another special point.

The volumes are handsomely bound and beautifully illustrated in colour.
