The plan of the book is as follows: First comes a paraphrase of a chapter of Cæsar, consisting chiefly of simple sentences with the long vowels marked. Then follow sentences for re-translation, based on the Vocabulary of the text, but with varied constructions. After that the narrative is given in Cæsar's own words without the quantities marked. The Episodes chosen are Cæsar's "Fight with Ariovistus" and "The Invasion of Britain."
