3 As loving as a child who sits
Close by his parent's knee,

And knows no want while it can have
That sweet society;

So, sitting at Thy feet, my heart

Would all its love outpour,

And pray that Thou wouldst teach me, Lord, To love Thee more and more.

1103 Blessed are they who have not seen, and yet

1

JESUS

have believed.-John 20. 29.

ESUS, these eyes have never seen
That radiant form of Thine;

The veil of sense hangs dark between
Thy blessed face and mine.

2 I see Thee not, I hear Thee not,
Yet art Thou oft with me;

And earth hath ne'er so dear a spot
As where I meet with Thee.

3 Like some bright dream that comes unsought,
When slumbers o'er me roll,
Thine image ever fills my thought,
And charms my ravished soul.

4 Yet, though I have not seen, and still
Must rest in faith alone,

I love Thee, dearest Lord, and will,
Unseen, but not unknown.

5 When death these mortal eyes shall seal,
And still this throbbing heart,

The rending veil shall Thee reveal,
All glorious as Thou art.

Not unto us, O Lord

but unto Thy

name give glory.-Ps. 115. 1.
BLESS the Christ of God;

I rest on love Divine;

And with unfaltering lip and heart,
I call this Saviour mine.

His cross dispels each doubt;
I bury in His tomb

Each thought of unbelief and fear,
Each lingering shade of gloom.
I praise the God of grace;

I trust His truth and might;
He calls me His, I call Him mine,
My God, my joy, my light.

In Him is only good,

In me is only ill;

My ill but draws His goodness forth,

And me He loveth still.

"Tis He who saveth me,

And freely pardon gives;

I love because He loveth me,

I live because He lives.

My life with Him is hid,

My death has passed away,

My clouds have melted into light,
My midnight into day.

WHO in the Lord confide,

And feel His sprinkled blood,

In storms and hurricanes abide

Firm as the mount of God.

Steadfast, and fixed, and sure,
His Zion cannot move;

His faithful people stand secure,
Fenced by His guardian love.

As round Jerusalem

The hilly bulwarks rise,
So God protects and covers them
From all their enemies.

On every side He stands,

And for His Israel cares;

And safe in His almighty hands
Their souls for ever bears.

1106 Lord, save us, we perish.-Matt. 8. 25.

1

O! the storms of life are breaking,

Faithless fears our hearts are shaking;

For our succour undertaking,

Lord and Saviour, help us!

2 Lo! the world, from Thee rebelling,
Round Thy Church in pride is swelling;
With Thy word their madness quelling,
Lord and Saviour, help us!

3 On Thine own command relying,
We our onward task are plying,
Unto Thee for safety sighing,
Lord and Saviour, help us!

4 Steadfast we, in faith abiding,
In Thy secret presence hiding,
In Thy love and grace confiding
Lord and Saviour, help us!

5 By Thy birth, Thy cross, Thy passion,
By Thy tears of deep compassion,
By Thy mighty intercession,
Lord and Saviour, help us!

1107 Lead me in Thy truth, and teach me.

1

Ps. 25. 5.

FATHER of Love, our Guide, our Friend,

Oh, lead us gently on,

Until life's trial-time shall end,

And heavenly peace be won!

We know not what the path may be

As yet by us untrod;

But we can trust our all to Thee,

Our Father and our God.

2 If called, like Abraham's child, to climb The hill of sacrifice,

Some angel may be there in time;

Deliverance shall arise:

Or, if some darker lot be good,
Oh, teach us to endure
The sorrow, pain, or solitude
That makes the spirit pure!

3 Christ by no flowery pathway came;
And we, His followers here,
Must do Thy will and praise Thy name,
In hope, and love, and fear.

And, till in heaven we sinless bow

And faultless anthems raise,
O Father, Son, and Spirit, now
Accept our feeble praise!

His great love wherewith He loved ૧૫૬.
Eph. 2. 4.

SAVIOUR, I have nought to plead,
In earth beneath or heaven above
But just my own exceeding need
And Thy exceeding love.

2 The need will soon be past and gone,
Exceeding great but quickly o'er,
Thy love, unbought, is all Thine own,
And lasts for evermore.

SAFE

them.-Mark 10. 16.

AFE in the arms of Jesus,
Safe on His gentle breast,
There by His love o'ershaded,
Sweetly my soul shall rest.
Hark! tis the voice of angels
Borne in a song to me,
Over the fields of glory,

Over the jasper sea.

Chorus-Safe in the arms of Jesus,

Safe on His gentle breast,
There by His love o'ershaded,
Sweetly my soul shall rest.

2 Safe in the arms of Jesus,

Safe from corroding care,
Safe from the world's temptations,
Sin cannot harm me there.
Free from the blight of sorrow,

Free from my doubts and fears;

Only a few more trials,

Only a few more tears!
