The Flag of any Foreign Vessel must be stated.

SUPPLEMENTS.-The supplementary pages to complete the list of ships' names will be supplied on payment of 1s. If required to be sent by post to any part of the United Kingdom, the sum of 1s. 2d. must be transmitted in postage stamps, and the name terminating the last completed page be given.

FLAGS. The Flags used in this Code of Signals are supplied by MESSRS. RICHARDSON & Co., of the very best Bunting, all roped and bagged, at

N.B.-As the Flags of this Code, though supplied at the above prices, are very frequently not of the regulated size, MESSRS. RICHARDSON & Co. have those manufactured by them distinctly marked with their name security both for the quality of the bunting and the correctness of the dimensions.

A SIGNAL STATION, provided with the Flags of this Code, having recently been. erected by THE ELECTRIC AND INTERNATIONAL TELEGRAPH COMPANIES at HURST CASTLE on the main, opposite Yarmouth (in the Isle of Wight), for the purpose of receiving communications from Vessels in the offing for transmission to any place in EUROPE embraced by the Electric and International Telegraph Companies' system, Captains of Vessels are informed they can hereby signal their arrival or departure, or lie to while waiting for orders from their Owners or Consignees.

THE DOWNS, &c.

MASTERS of Merchant Vessels are required, upon arrival in the Downs, or at any Port or Place of general Rendezvous, to make their Number (corresponding with the name of their Vessel, which will be found in the Third Part of this Code), and to continue the same (if all well) every day, from twelve till one o'clock, during their detention; in order that the Agent for Lloyd's may have a daily account of the situation and proceedings of the Shipping, for the general information of the Owners and Underwriters.

When the Signal is intended for the Agent for Lloyd's, the Union Jack should be hoisted at the Main, as a preparatory notice.

The Signal of the Agent for Lloyd's will be kept flying at Southend, Deal; it is a White Flag, lettered" LLOYD'S."

LIVERPOOL AND

HOLYHEAD

TELEGRAPHS.

MASTERS of Vessels within signaling distance of any of the Liverpool and Holyhead Telegraphs are requested to hoist the Number of their Ship, and when Inward bound, the Number of the Port from whence she has sailed.

MASTERS of Vessels making Port Jackson are requested to show their Number, in order that it may be notified to Sydney by the Telegraph on the South Head.
