"In the Press at the Government Mudrusuh College, Tuhtavee, an Arabic commentary, on the Door-i-Mookhtar, compiled within the last forty years by a Native of Egypt, and printed there by order of Moohummud Ulee, Pacha of Egypt, a work of reputed authority. Text and commentary printing by Muoluvee Hafiz Uhmud Kubeer, Native Assistant Secretary, Mudrusuh College.

"A translation in Persian, preparing for the Press of the very abstruse Poems of the Subu-Mooulluquh (Poets before and about the Era of Moohummud,) by Muoluvee Rusheedoon-Nubee, Assistant, 3d Professor, Mudrusuh College.

"I have done myself the pleasure of enumerating these works as proceeding from the Mudrusuh College, its Press, and Professors, under the hope expressed by those concerned, that such printing may be encouraged at the Government Mudrusuh College, and that Colleges and Schools cultivating the study of such works may take them therefrom, (when not forthcoming elsewhere) as the desired encouragement, and which request they respectfully submit for the favourable consideration of the Council of Education, when such works may be necessary for students of such learning under their authority."

The general Arabic Examinations were conducted by the several gentlemen whose names are subjoined, viz. :

General Examinations, Arabic Department.

"The Grammar Class by Muoluvee Ubdoor-Ruhman, the elementary Grammar class by Muoluvee Ruhmut Ulee, the first division of the Literature class by Muoluvee Hoosynood-Deen, Professor of Bishop's College; the second division of the Literature class by Muoluvee Moohummud Muzhur, Vakeel Sudder Dewany Adawlut; the third division of the same class by Muoluvee Ghoolam Ukhbar, the fourth division by Muoluvee Moohummud Niamut Ulee, Meer Moonshee at Russapuglah, the fifth division by Muoluvee Ghoolam Hydur of the College of Fort William, the sixth division of this class, by Muoluvee Ubdool Hameed of the Sudder Dewanny. The students in Logic by Muoluvee Fuzlool Ruhman, Qazee of the Sudder Dewanny Adawlut; the examination in the Principles of Law by Muoluvee Moohummud Ukbur; Muoluvee Waris Ulee of Russapuglah examined the students in Rhetoric, and Muoluvee Fuzloor Ruhman, Qazee of the Sudder Adawlut, the class of Natural Philosophy. In Geometry, Muoluvee Ghoolam Eesa, Reporter Sudder Dewanny, ascertained the attainments of the students, and Muoluvee Yar Ulee those of the classes of Algebra and Arithmetic. The Law examination was undertaken by Muoluvee Ubdool-Baree."

The reports of the various gentlemen above mentioned, were generally satisfactory, and record a high estimate of the state of learning in the Mudrussa.

The examination of the English Department of the Mudrussa, commenced on Saturday, August English Depart- 7th, and concluded on Tuesday, the 10th, having occupied the greater portion of three days. It was conducted by Dr. Mouat, Secretary to the Council of Education, whose report was on the whole tolerably favorable. A few changes in the organization of the department were recommended and carried into effect.

Pundit Prankishen Shurma, of the Sanscrit College, examined the Bengalee classes, and stated that some of the boys passed a satisfactory examination.

The reports of the various examiners were sanctioned and confirmed by the Council of Education, and the thanks of that body were communicated to the gentlemen in question, for the careful and zealous manner in which the duty had been performed.
