desirable result, I have, within the last few months, directed the head master to issue tickets to those scholars who were distinguished for regularity of attendance and diligence in the prosecution of their studies, and beg to bring to the notice of the Council the names of Sahibzadah Yoosoof Sultan, Mahomed Sheikh, and Sudderool Huck, 1st class; and Sahibzadah Furkundah Bukht, Mowla Bux, and Abdool Mojeer, 2d class, as having obtained the greatest number of these marks of my approbation.

"It affords me much pleasure to mention that the whole of the Mysore family have latterly taken great interest in the welfare of the Institution; and my best thanks are due to the members of the Committee, especially Prince Ghoolam Mahomed, for the able support which I have received; and from the liberal ideas and feelings which they have, on all occasions, displayed, I am induced to coincide with Dr. Mouat in the opinion that ere many weeks have elapsed, they will cheerfully consent to make the school public for the children of all persuasions, and no longer withhold the benefits of a good education from the sons of respectable persons residing in the neighbourhood of Russapuglah, solely on the plea of a difference with regard to religious tenets."

The examination of the Persian classes was conducted by Lieutenant Cavenagh, Superintendent of the Mysore Princes, that of the English classes by Dr. Mouat and Prince Ghoolam Mahomed and the examination in Bengali by Baboo Ram Chunder Mittre, one of the masters of the senior department of the Hindu College. The reports of those gentlemen spoke favorably of the school and its discipline as contrasted with the results of previous years, and particularly recorded the increased interest exhibited in its welfare by Prince Ghoolam Mahomed and the Mysore family-some of the junior members of which were among the most proficient competitors for prizes.
