Appeal.-Persons aggrieved shall be at liberty to appeal to the next General Sessions, or General Quarter Sessions of the Peace; and judgment suspended in case the person convicted enter into recognizance before such justices, himself in £10, with two sureties in £10, upon condition to prosecute such appeal with effect, and to be forthcoming and abide the judgment of the Sessions. S. 12. No master to act as justice. S. 13. CONSTABLES. By the statute 5 Geo. IV. cap. 18, entitled, "An Act for the more effectual recovery of penalties before justices and magistrates on conviction of offenders, and for facilitating the execution of warrants by constables," it is (inter al.) provided, that constables may execute warrants out of their precincts, provided it be within the jurisdiction of the justices granting or backing the same. S. 6. PUNISHMENT OF CRIMES.-REVENUE LAWS, OFFENCES AGAINST. SINCE this work was sent to the press, all the laws relating to the Customs are repealed by 6 Geo. IV. c. 105, and by the said Act all the laws relating to smuggling will be repealed. It being enacted by 6 Geo. IV. c. 108, that from and after the 5th of January, 1826, this Act and all the provisions therein contained shall have effect and come into and be and continue in full force and operation, for the prevention of smuggling, and shall extend to any law in force, or hereafter to be made, relating to the revenue or management of the customs. Making signal to smugglers at night-On conviction to forfeit £100, or at the discretion of the Court to be committed to the common gaol or house of correction, there to be kept to hard labour for not exceeding one year: s. 52. Any person in company with four others passing with goods liable to forfeiture, armed or disguised-Felony, transportation for 7 years. Assaulting or resisting, &c. officers of the army, navy, or marines, or officers of the customs or excise, or persons aiding them or duly employed for the prevention of smuggling-Felony, transportation for 7 years, or imprisoned in any house of correction or common gaol, and kept to hard labour for not exceeding three years, at the discretion of the Court: s. 59.
