THE BAY VIEW PRIVATE HOSPITAL

FOR THE TREATMENT AND CURE OF MENTAL DISEASES, TEMPE, NEAR SYDNEY.

(Licensed by the Governor of New South Wales.)

RESIDENT MEDICAL SUPERINTENDENT, A. J. VAUSE, M.B.

This Establishment has been in successful operation for over twenty years, and is under the conjoined supervi-ion of the following Gentlemen :-

Inspector-General of the Insane: F. NORTON MANNING, Esq., M.D.

Sir ALFRED ROBERTS, M.R CS., Chairman

J. C. COX, Esq., M.D., F.L.S.

Board of Official Visitors.

The Establishment is situated about four miles from Sydney, on the Illawarra railway line. It is surrounded by open country, and commands magnificent views of Botany Bay, La Perouse, Kurnel, the Botany Heads, and the Pacific Ocean. It is within easy reach, either by water or road, of such places of interest as the George's River, San Souci, Sandringham, Lady Robinson's Beach and Tom Ugly's Point.

The proximity of the sea and the high land to the south combine to ensure a temperate, cool, and salubrious climate, sheltered from the severity of the south winds, which is so essential to invalids.

Its proximity to Sydney enables the friends of patients to visit the Hospital with a minimum amount of trouble, inconvenience, or loss of time, and places it in an enviable situation for procuring, not only the necessaries, but the luxuries of life.

(Extract from "Town & Country Journal," March 15th 1884.)

SINCE the century began there certainly never was a time when the inhabitants of this planet needed more light on the ideas of their fellow men than at present. Nowadays everything worth thinking about goes "into print;" truly may it be said of making many books there is no end; and who is there amongst us who cannot testify to the weariness of the eyes, if not of the flesh, which is entailed in our studious endeavours to be "posted up " in the stirring events of our era.

A good reading lamp which gives a brilliant and at the same time a well shaded light, is a requirement of the age, and we are assured by Messrs. F. LASSETTER & Co., who are the originators of the Nineteenth Century Reading Lamp shown in our sketch, that it is the best of its kind hitherto brought under public notice. Henceforth "burning the midnight oil" will be merely a figure of speech, the flame in this lamp being generated from a special candle of a high degree of purity in its composition, affording a strong clear white light, which falls upon the newspaper or book of the reader without dazzling the eyes. The lamp being placed at his back, the light is directed at pleasure by means of a Polygon reflector, adjustable to any position. The design of this lamp is the result of numerous experiments, and has been registered in New South Wales. Specimens can be seen at the showrooms of F. LASSETTER & Co. (Limited), George Street, Sydney, who will give all information as to price, &c.

LACTOPEPTINE

The most important Remedial Agent ever pre-
sented to the Profession for

Dyspepsia, Vomiting in Pregnancy, Cholera
Infantum, Constipation, and all Diseases
arising from Imperfect Nutrition.

[graphic]

Formula printed on the Label of every Bottle.

LACTOPEPTINE is most agreeable to the taste; its effects are specific, and no one has been able to imitate its digestive value.

LACTOPEPTINE precisely represents in composition the natural digestive juices of the Stomach, Pancreas, and Salivary Glands, and will, therefore, readily dissolve all foods necessary to the recuperation of the human organism.

The most important remedial agent ever presented to the Profession, and there is no known remedy so positive in results for Dyspepsia, Vomiting in Pregnancy, Cholera Infantum, Constipation, and all Diseases arising from imperfect nutrition.

Professional opinions upon certain methods of treatment, with description of cases, showing results in practice, and full descriptive pamphlet sent upon request with sample.

SPECIAL NOTICE TO THE MEDICAL PROFESSION.

Whenever satisfactory results are not obtained from the administration of LACTOPEPTINE, we will consider it a favor if such facts are reported to us, for there can be no doubt that substitution of Pepsin or some of the cheap imitations of Lactopeptine has been practiced, whenever the therapeutic activity of Lactopeptine is not uniformly demonstrated in its indications.
