1 ƒ SONGS of praise the angels sang,
Heaven with hallelujahs rang,
When Jehovah's work begun,
When He spake, and it was done.
2 f Songs of praise awoke the morn
When the Prince of Peace was born;
Songs of praise arose when He
Captive led captivity.

4

"The morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy."
And shall man alone be dumb
Till that glorious kingdom come?
cres No! the Church delights to raise
Psalms and hymns and songs of praise.
5 mf Saints below, with heart and voice,
Still in songs of praise rejoice;
cres Learning here, by faith and love,
f Songs of praise to sing above.
6 mf Borne upon their latest breath,
Songs of praise shall conquer death;
cres Then, amidst eternal joy,

3 mf Heaven and earth must pass away;
cres Songs of praise shall crown that day:
f God will make new heavens and earth;
Songs of praise shall hail their birth.

EVERTON.

f Songs of praise their powers employ.

"Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour."

Imf MIGHTY God! while angels bless Thee, 3 mf But Thy rich, Thy free redemption,

May a mortal sing Thy name?

Lord of men as well as angels,

Thou art every creature's theme.

Lord of every land and nation,
Ancient of eternal days,

cres Sounded through the wide creation
Be Thy just and endless praise.

2 mf For the grandeur of Thy nature,

Grand beyond a seraph's thought; For the wonders of creation,

Works with skill and kindness wrought; For Thy providence, that governs Through Thine empire's wide domain, Wings an angel, guides a sparrow, Blessèd be Thy gentle reign!

Bright, though veiled in darkness long,-
Thought is poor, and poor expression;

Who can sing that wondrous song?
Brightness of the Father's glory,
Shall Thy praise unuttered lie?

cres Break, my tongue, such guilty silence!
Sing the Lord (dim) who came to die

4 mf From the highest throne of glory

To the cross of deepest woe,
Thou didst stoop to ransom captives;
cres Flow my praise, for ever flow;
Re-ascend, immortal Saviour!

Leave Thy footstool, take Thy throne.
f Thence return, and reign for ever:
Be the kingdom all Thine own!

THE LORD JESUS CHRIST: HIS GLORY AND PRAISE.

ImfCOME, Holy Ghost, our souls inspire, 5 mf Anoint and cheer our soiled face And lighten with celestial fire.

2 Thou the anointing Spirit art,

Who dost Thy sevenfold gifts impart. 3cres Thy blessed unction from above Is comfort, life, and fire of love. 4 mf Enable with perpetual light The dulness of our blinded sight.

With the abundance of Thy grace.

6 cres Keep far our foes; give peace at home: Where Thou art Guide no ill can come.

7 mf Teach us to know the Father, Son, And Thee, of both, to be but One; 8 f That, through the ages all along, This may be our endless song:

9 f "Praise to Thy eternal merit!

Father, Son, and Holy Spirit." Amen.

The last syllable of the words "Merit" and "Spirit" to be sung to these minims.
