But Thou dost all my anguish see:

Р "O God, be merciful to me!"

4 mf Nor alms, nor deeds that I have done, Can for a single sin atone;

cres To Calvary alone I flee:

With deep and conscious guilt oppressed "O God, be merciful to me!"

Christ and His cross my only plea : "O God, be merciful to me!"

3 mf Far off I stand with tearful eyes, Nor dare uplift them to the skies;

p

5 mf And when, redeemed from sin and hell,
With all the ransomed throng I dwell,
cres My raptured song shall ever be,
f"God has been merciful to me!

Amen.

If A SAFE stronghold our God is still, 3 f And were this world all devils o'er,

A trusty shield and weapon;

He'll help us clear from all the ill
That hath us now o'ertaken.

mf The ancient prince of hell

Hath risen with purpose fell;
Strong mail of craft and power
He weareth in this hour;
On earth is not his fellow.

2 ƒ With force of arms we nothing can, Full soon were we down-ridden;

cres But for us fights the proper Man, f Whom God Himself hath bidden. Ask ye, who is this same ? ff Christ Jesus is His name, The Lord Sabaoth's Son; He and no other one

Shall conquer in the battle.

And watching to devour us,
We lay it not to heart so sore;
Not they can overpower us.
And let the prince of ill
Look grim as e'er he will,
He harms us not a whit;
For why? his doom is writ ;
ff A word shall quickly slay him.

4 mf God's word, for all their craft and force, One moment will not linger,

But, spite of hell, shall have its course;
'Tis written by His finger.

p And, though they take our life,
Goods, honour, children, wife,

cres Yet is their profit small;

These things shall vanish all, f The city of God remaineth. Amen.

"A Man shall be as an hiding-place from the wind and a covert from the tempest."

Imf JESUS, Lover of my soul,

Let me to Thy bosom fly, cres While the nearer waters roll, While the tempest still is high. Hide me, O my Saviour, hide, Till the storm of life is past; cres Safe into the haven guide; dim Oh, receive my soul at last!

2 mf Other refuge have I none; Hangs my helpless soul on Thee; Leave, ah! leave me not alone, Still support and comfort me. cres All my trust on Thee is stayed, All my help from Thee I bring; dim Cover my defenceless head

With the shadow of Thy wing.

3 mf Thou, O Christ, art all I want;
More than all in Thee I find :
Raise the fallen, cheer the faint,
Heal the sick, and lead the blind.
Just and holy is Thy name;
I am all unrighteousness :
False and full of sin I am;
cres Thou art full of truth and grace.

4 mf Plenteous grace with Thee is found, Grace to cover all my sin; cres Let the healing streams abound,

Make and keep me pure within. f Thou of life the fountain art,

Freely let me take of Thee;
Spring Thou up within my heart;
Rise to all eternity! Amen.
