"To me to live is Christ, and to die is gain."

Nothing shall my heart confound;
Safely I shall pass the flood,
Safely reach Immanuel's ground.

I mf CHRIST, of all my hopes the ground! 4 f Firmly trusting in Thy blood,
Christ, the spring of all my joy!
Still in Thee may I be found,
Still for Thee my powers employ.
2 mf Let Thy love my heart inflame;
Keep Thy fear before my sight;
Be Thy praise my highest aim;
Be Thy smile my chief delight.

3 mf Fountain of o'erflowing grace!
Freely from Thy fulness give;
Till I close my earthly race,
May I prove it, "Christ to live!"

5 mf When I touch the blessèd shore,

Back the closing waves shall roll; p Death's dark stream shall never more cres Part from Thee my ransomed soul. 6 mf Thus, oh! thus, an entrance give To the land of cloudless sky; Having known it "Christ to live," Let me know it "gain to die." Amen.

1mfCOME, Thou Fount of every blessing, cres He, to rescue me from danger,

Tune my heart to sing Thy grace;

Streams of mercy never ceasing
Call for songs of loudest praise.

2 mf Here I raise my Ebenezer,

Hither by Thy help I'm come; And I hope, by Thy good pleasure, Safely to arrive at home.

3 Jesus sought me when a stranger, Wandering from the fold of God;

Interposed with precious blood.

4 mf Oh, to grace how great a debtor
Daily I'm constrained to be!
Let that grace now, like a fetter,
Bind my wandering heart to Thee.

5 mf Prone to wander-() Lord, I feel it-
Prone to leave the God I love,-

cres Saviour, take my heart and seal it,

Seal it for Thy courts above. Amen.

299 "Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father, in the name of our Lord

Jesus Christ."

1 mf MY God, I thank Thee, who hast made 4 For Thou, who knowest, Lord, how soon The earth so bright,

So full of splendour and of joy,
Beauty and light;

So many glorious things are here,
Noble and bright.

2 mf I thank Thee, too, that Thou hast made
Joy to abound,

So many gentle thoughts and deeds
Circling us round

That in the darkest spot of earth

Some love is found.

3 mf I thank Thee more that all our joy
Is touched with pain,

That shadows fall on brightest hours,
That thorns remain ;

mf So that earth's bliss may be our guide,
And not our chain.

Our weak heart clings,

Hast given us joys, tender and true,
Yet all with wings;

cres So that we see, gleaming on high,
Diviner things.

5f I thank Thee, Lord, that Thou hast kept
The best in store :

mf We have enough, yet not too much
To long for more;

A yearning for a deeper peace
Not known before.

6mfI thank Thee, Lord, that here our souls,
Though amply blest,

Can never find, although they seek,
A perfect rest,

dim Nor ever shall, until they lean
rall On Jesus' breast. Amen.

"I am not ashamed; for I know whom I have believed."

ImfJESUS! and shall it ever be,

A mortal man ashamed of Thee? cres Scorned be the thought by rich and poor; Oh, may I scorn it more and more!

2 p Ashamed of Jesus! sooner far Let evening blush to own a star; Ashamed of Jesus! just as soon Let midnight blush to think of noon. 3 'Tis evening with my soul till He, cres That Morning Star, bids darkness flee; He sheds the beam of noon divine O'er all this midnight soul of mine.

4 p Ashamed of Jesus! (cres) of that Friend,
On whom for heaven my hopes depend!
f It must not be: (p) be this my shame,
cres That I no more revere His name.
5 Ashamed of Jesus! (cres) yes, I may,
When I've no guilt to wash away,
No tear to wipe, no joy to crave,
No fears to quell, no soul to save.

6 mf Till then-nor is the boasting vain-
Till then I boast a Saviour slain;
cres And oh, may this my portion be,
f That Saviour not ashamed of me!

"Now therefore, our God, we thawk Thee, and praise Thy glorious name."

If NOW thank we all our God
With heart and hands and voices,
Who wondrous things hath done,
In whom His world rejoices;
Who, from our mother's arms,
Hath blest us on our way
cres With countless gifts of love,
And still is ours to-day.

2 f Oh, may this bounteous God
Through all our life be near us,
With ever joyful hearts
dim And blessed peace to cheer us;

mf And keep us in His grace,

And guide us when perplexed, cres And free us from all ills

In this world and the next.
3 ff All praise and thanks to God,
The Father, now be given,

The Son, and Him who reigns
With Them in highest heaven,
The one eternal God,
Whom earth and heaven adore,
For thus it was, is now,

And shall be evermore! Amen.
