MEDICAL MEMORANDA.

DR. BURNETT'S NEW SANITARIUM.-It is extremely gratifying to us to note the completion of the addition to Dr. Burnett's private home for nervous diseases in Kansas City, an institution that stands as a tribute to the scientific ability and energy of its founder. Dr. Burnett's many professional friends in the Missouri Valley are fully appreciative of his conscientious zeal and painstaking care in the line which he has chosen as his life work. This illustration shows the sanitarium as it appears with the new $10,000 addition. This gives this beautiful home a capacity of 52 beds, and providing separate departments for the mental, nervous and inebriate classes, with absolutely no communication between male and female apartments. It is built of pressed brick with stone trimmings and has 13,330 square feet of beautifully polished floors. All interior finish is natural wood and every room is an outside room. Elegance and home comforts, free from hospital atmosphere, has been the aim in its construction. The situation is high above the street, among the trees, occupying a whole block frontage

excepting 85 feet, being free from the dust and street disturbance, still enjoying all city comforts. A half block to the south is the beautiful Linwood Boulevard. There are six well appointed water bath departments for cleansing and therapeutic uses. On each floor is a 1600 candle power electric light bath for treating drug and alcohol cases; they are luxuries, joys, and utilities unequaled by any other facility in treating these cases. A therapeutic electric room is fitted with the perfect machinery of Van Houten and Ten Broeck of New York for classical work. Electric lights, hot and cold water and hot water heating plant are used. Dr. Burnett was trained in Neurology under the late Prof. Landon Carter Gray of New York. He has spent twenty-one years in his work and $50,000 in the building and equipment of his sanitarium, showing how futile and unscientific are the many attempted shortcuts to success in so difficult a specialty. Dr. Burnett is the pioneer teacher of Western Neurology and filled the first chair of Mental and Nervous Diseases, established in Kansas City in the old Kansas City Medical College, now united with the University of Kansas. We not only have access to Dr. Burnett's talents, but he has spent a small fortune in making his services more applicable to our needs, a guarantee of his good faith and good work. Dr. Burnett is an ex-president of the Medical Society of the Missouri Valley.

Diseases of the Intestines.-Carabana cures the catarrhal and congestive condition of the small intestines by its reflex action, regularizes the biliary and pancreatic secretions and arrests putrefactive changes
