GENERAL STUD-BOOK.

MANY enquiries having been made for a continuation of this work, the Publishers beg leave to make known their intention of devoting a considerable portion of time during the present year to the preparation of a new Volume. In order to have the Book ready for publication in the same year in which it was announced, they have been compelled, on former occasions, to commence printing before all the matter was collected, which, on account of the alphabetical arrangement, is very inconvenient. They propose, therefore, in the present instance, to defer printing till the early part of 1831, but to have the compilation in such a state of forwardness, that nothing may then remain to be added except the foals dropped in that year. This plan will make a difference of a few months only in the time of publication, will carry the work down to a later period, and will enable the Publishers to render it more accurate and extensive. They hope for a continuance of the assistance which they have hitherto experienced from the principal Breeders and others, whose communications should be sent in during the ensuing Spring

7 Oxenden street, January 1830.
