was too painful for me, until I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I their end. Surely thou didst set them in slippery places : thou castedst them down into destruction. How are they brought into desolation as in a moment ? they are utterly consumed with terrors. Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and a horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup. The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God. Whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven. For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins. But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.
I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the Scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven. He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life : and he that believeth not the Son, shall not see life : but the wrath of God abideth on him. God, and that obey not the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power.
To me belongeth vengeance, and recompense, their foot shall slide in due time: for the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things that shall come upon them, make haste. If thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands, to go into hell, where the worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death : I do not say that he shall pray for it. Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies, wherewith soever they shall blaspheme: but he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost, hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation.
