Miner: Don't use a pick for pulling down slate; use a bar and be safe. Also, if a miner breaks eight pick handles, it costs him the price of a slate bar.

Miner: Don't depend on your boss or your partner (buddie) testing the roof. Test it yourself.

Boss: Make bad roof safe; put a crossbar set under it.
