PREFACE.

The Author's belief that such a book as this

was needed is his apology for its existence.

He might plead other reasons—such as “being requested to publish," &c.—but as these

would not be satisfactory to himself, he cannot offer them to others.

Perceiving that ignorance of the Gospel prevailed to a deplorable extent, even among those who regularly attend the ministrations of the sanctuary, he sought, by the delivery of these discourses, to do his part towards remedying the evil.
