Inspectors

for the biennium. Salaries to be paid inspectors shall be $1800 for the first year of service. If the inspector has served or hereafter serves more than one year, $100 shall be added to his salary for each year of service until a maximum salary of $3000 is reached. This provision shall not operate to reduce the salary rate of any inspector now employed.

§ 2. No contract shall be entered into nor obligation incurred for any expenditure from the appropriations herein made for contingencies until after the purpose and amount of such expenditure have been approved in writing by the Governor.

INFIRMARY AT CHICAGO.

and $300,000 for building.

AN ACT providing for the purchase of land and the construction of a building for the Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary and making appropriations therefor.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

SECTION 1. The Department of Public Welfare is authorized and directed to purchase land and construct thereon a suitable building for the use of the Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary at Chicago. The title to the land shall be taken in the name of the State of Illinois and the deed or deeds shall be filed in the office of the Secretary of State.

§ 2. The sum of one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000.00) or so much thereof as may be necessary, is appropriated to the Department of Public Welfare for the purpose of acquiring the land and the sum of three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000.00) or so much thereof as may be necessary, is appropriated to the Department of Public Welfare for the purpose of constructing the building.

§ 3. These appropriations are subject to the provisions of "An Act in relation to State finance," approved June 10, 1919, as amended. APPROVED June 19, 1925.

AN ACT making appropriations for the Department of Public Welfare. SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly: There is appropriated to the Department of Public Welfare, payable from the General Revenue Fund, for the support, operation, maintenance and expenses of the several State charitable, penal and reformatory institutions and other divisions of the Department of Public Welfare, until the expiration of the first fiscal quarter after the adjournment of the next General Assembly, the sum of twenty-six million, seven hundred forty-two thousand and seventy-nine dollars ($26,742,079) in the following items:
