following

REPORT.

[To accompany S. 7538.]

The Committee on Commerce, to whom was referred the bill (S. 7538), authorizing the Western New York & Pennsylvania Railway Co. to reconstruct, maintain, and operate a bridge across the Allegheny River, in Glade and Kinzua Townships, Warren County, Pa., having considered the same, report thereon with a recommendation that it pass without amendment.

The bill has the approval of the War Department, as will appear by the following letter, which is made a part of this report:

So far as the interests committed to this department are concerned, I know of no objection to the favorable consideration by Congress of the accompanying bill, S. 7538, Sixty-fourth Congress, second session, for the reconstruction of a bridge across the Allegheny River.

The Committee on Appropriations, to whom was referred the bill (H. R. 19300) making appropriations for the Diplomatic and Consular Service for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1918, reports the same to the Senate with amendments, and submits herewith a statement of the amount of the estimates for 1918 for the several branches of the service, the amount provided by the bill as passed the House of Representatives, the amount recommended by the committee, the amount appropriated for the fiscal year 1917, the changes in House bill recommended by the committee, and the amount of the several Diplomatic and Consular appropriation acts for fiscal years 1886 to 1917, inclusive.
